Big Mike's Redondo Beach — Restaurant in Redondo Beach

I tried this place for the first time today and I am disappointed. I ordered 3 six inch subs and garlic parmesan fries. As soon as I got home I noticed that they had forgot to give me my fries which happens sometimes. My boyfriend called the shop to ask them about it and the lady on the phone told us that we could come back. I walked back which should have given them plenty of time to have my fries ready but I still had to wait. On top of that the manager came over to our table and instantly blamed the new girl. This really upset me. It is not the new person's fault. They are new and allowed to make mistakes. It was the manager's fault because she was the one who actually keyed in our order and showed the new girl how to ring up a combo. I never treated any of the employees under me like that. If it was my mistake then it was mine and I owned up to it.

The fries were messy. Not the messy in a delicious way. I felt like someone shoved fries in a bag then threw in a few mushy ice cream scoops of garlic and sprinkled it, lightly, with Costco cheese. There was no mixing involved. It was pretty much dog food. On top of that the serving seemed surprisingly small. It wouldn't have hurt them to throw in some extra fries because they made a boo-boo.

As I was about to leave; I refilled my cup with Coke. The manager was just watching me. It is a refill and there are no signs saying "no refills". I don't need to get the evil eye for getting a soda.

Now I really did enjoy my eggplant parmesan sub but I don't think I will be enjoying one at this place ever again. I will just drive...

Horrible customer service and rude. I ordered a pastrami and fries sandwich and 4 people got their food before me and had ordered AFTER me. Seemed like the lady cooking didn’t know what she was doing. Then I noticed my sandwich was on the counter waiting for the fries to finish cooking. So the sandwich was sitting getting cold. Then the “cook” started poking other meats cause she wasn’t sure if they were cooked. Takes the uncooked fries out of fryer and put them on sandwich only to realize they aren’t cooked and now grand the fries and throws them back in the fryer. At this point I’ve already waited 20 minutes for my sandwich I demanded my money back. These workers had to idea on how to clam the situation, or give any apology. They acted like it was MY fault. Unless you like a scorching meat sandwich saturated in cheese sauce to compensate for the dry meat, this is the place for you. The onion rings were extremely doughy and definitely undercooked while the cheesesteak itself is bland, extremely hot and soggy - even after the heat subsided you are left with a wet sandwich that falls apart. Please do yourself a favor and get the cheeseteak if anything; the Nono special is definitely a big NO NO! I wasn't able to finish 50% of my 30 dollar meal for two. I would not be coming back, two stars is generous, but as a local I don't want to hurt one of our businesses (even if it's terrible). May the poor souls who have never had an authentic cheesesteak be blessed of never having one - otherwise this establishment would be...
