Sanitary Cafe — Restaurant in Reidsville

I am from the area and I have a friend from out of state with me. I have been to this establishment many times and suggested we drive 30 miles to eat here. The food is excellent however the service by the wait staff was below acceptable on this visit. We arrived and were told to take a seat anywhere. We sat at the only available table which was still uncleared. We sat for 10 minutes, no one ever came to our table with offers to clean it with menus or asked for our drink orders. We finally stopped a waitress who was cleaning a table beside us if we could get service. She said sure pulled dirty plates off our table but never returned. We waited.... we then asked another for menus and we had to get them ourselves. She then came to our table with an attitude. Very bad attitude too. Her name was Kenna. We almost left then but asked to speak to an owner/manager. John the acting manager came to assist us. He offered to be our server himself and offered to totally comp our meal. We reluctantly accepted. He worked very hard to make up this horrible experience. Cudos to John! As we ate we were totally ignored as in shunned by the rest of the staff. My fam has been going here for years, but somehow, I realized I have never reviewed it😱 Let’s remedy that, shall we? First of all, let me say that there is no reason whatsoever for this place to have only 3 1/2 ⭐️ If you like country cooking at extremely reasonable prices, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. When we lived in Reidsville, we visited often and I’m 100% sure I’ve tasted everything. In my humble opinion, it’s all delish! As soon as you enter you are thrust back in time with the decor. There is wall art, trinkets, and antiques from decades ago but it is all tastefully arranged. The place is always packed with good folks hungry for country cooking. It has always been clean, and the staff is super friendly, stopping to chat like you are old friends. Enough cannot be said about the food 😋. There are no words to describe how delicious it is. The Sanitary Cafe had been recommended to me some time ago, its about 15 miles out of the loop I usually travel, but today I had to check it out... I'm so glad I did. I got there 15 minutes before noon, and there were only two tables empty...I thought I'd be there a while......., but as soon as I sat down I was given a menu and my drink order was taken and returned promptly... I ordered and I was astonished how quickly I got my order, I ate one of the best hamburger's and fries that I've eaten anywhere (Including that place in Greensboro, that was in the news about having the Best Hamburgers in America) The Sanitary Cafe's burger was every bit as good...l was back in my car and driving away at totally satisfied by 12:20......
