I meeeeeeeean.... the server was super nice. Buuuuut, liiiiiiiiiiike, the food, yo. The food is where the problems lay. The coke was delicious, even though I am most definitely a Pepsi fan at heart. So, that was a plus. The hubs enjoyed the coffee, nothing special, but also nothing to write home about, either. The waitress was very kind and brewed a fresh pot for us as they were all out, so we were hopeful that the rest of the dining experience would be just as amazing and not just, well, meh. Even the booths were comfy. And the atmosphere was okay. Small, but inviting, if a little sterile, which, given the current pandemic, sterile is not such a bad thing, amiright? I ordered the garden salad and chili cheese fries and my darling hubbo chose the South Of The Border Burger, sans avacado. The sald was pretty good, though it had no cheese it did have a half of a boiled egg, white onion, tomato slices and the ickiest black olives I've almost ever tasted. All of this was served on a bed of spinach and a spring mix of greens. The ranch was absolutely yummy to the max and paired nicely with the fries (also scrumptious) that came with the burger. The burger itself was lacking in seasoning as well as toppings. The description made it sound as if it would be loaded with peppers and onions and instead there was one thin chili and a splattering of grilled onions and a thinly slice of tomato. The iceberg lettuce was the star of this burger and let me tell you, it was the star from one of those majorly run-down off Broadway plays where the actors all have three other jobs to make rent and probably also an addiction or two to keep their minds off of the fact that their lives smell like broken dreams and regret. The bun was nicely toasted, though, so it had that going for it. Now on to the chili cheese fries. Ohhh, how I love me some chili cheese fries!!! And the fries from my husband's plate were delicious! Crispy on the outside and full of potato goodness within! But my fries, my fries were not so lucky. You see, the salad came at the same time as everything else and so there was a brief pause in between the arrival of the fries and their initial ingestion. Normally, however, this would not be a bad thing, as when you think chili cheese fries, you imagine a heaping scoop of thick chili sitting atop the fries, all reddish brown and yummy. This chili, however, well, it was like someone poured chili powder into a bowl of water with beans, meat and stewed tomatoes. There was no good old fashioned thick chili sauce. Instead was a thin soupy mess which quickly turned the fries from crispy to as limp as Hugh Hefner's... well, nevermind. They were soggy, okay? I took a couple of bites, trying to find a redeeming quality, but in the end I realized it wasn't worth the heartburn it would likely haunt me with later, so I sadly pushed the bowl away and instead ordered a refill of the caffeine rich Coca Cola which was still the bright spot of the entire meal. The waitress, being amazing as she was, took the fries off of our bill, as I had hardly touched them, and we finished up and left. All in all, a pretty meh experience. Not the best, but also not the worst.

I must say, Archie's is so good that, in fact, I have nothing negative to say about it. I'm from out of town, and I always make a point to go to Archie's when I come to Reno. They have the freshest food, especially their breakfast. I came in today, and once I sat down, the waiter immediately assisted me, and once I ordered, It didn't take long for the food to be served. I ordered the Hotcake combo, and my friend ordered the chicken fried steak. It was absolutely delicious. My pancakes were so fluffy. My bacon was juicy and flavorful, and the eggs had a cheesy, creamy texture. My friend regarded the chicken fried steak as being delicious. I must say I had a great experience today, service was good, the atmosphere was clean, and the food was fresh! I'd definitely recommend coming here!

I believe Archie's is known for their giant hamburgers, but I just couldn't get myself to go that route for breakfast. Naturally, I thought a breakfast burrito might be more appropriate (and that's what I ordered). The food was OK, but I wasn't particularly blown away. Service, though, is really attentive and friendly. I never had to ask for a refill on coffee because they're so on it. I think I might try one of their giant hamburgers the next time I visit Reno, especially if that's what they're known for. Archie's is located close to the University of Nevada (Reno), so I imagine that a lot of college students might come here for a bite. Archie's seems to attract a lot of regulars, which seems to be a good sign that they're consistent in their food and service.
