A hidden gem. My husband and I decided to try it this evening, and were pleasantly surprised. When the menu includes Szechuan eggplant, that's a promising sign. In our experience, the best Chinese restaurants we've found tend to be the small, family owned ones. We were greeted at the front by our lovely and gracious hostess/waitress/mother of the adorable girl sitting at one of the back tables apparently doing homework. We ordered the eggplant, Mongolian beef, and the spring rolls appetizer (4). The spring rolls were hot, fresh, and delicate, crispy without being greasy. The Szechuan eggplant was cooked to perfection in a rich, spicy, dark sauce shared with summer squash and green peppers. The Mongolian beef was tender and flavorful, also moderately spicy, with green onion spears and water chestnut. It had a slightly acidic bite, that was not at all unpleasant. Even the fortune cookies were a little out of the ordinary, with different from run-of-the-mill fortunes. Prices were quite reasonable. Definitely worth checking out! Read moreI ordered General's chicken, chicken chow mein and steamed rice. The General's chicken wasn't on the menu, but they said they would make it. I'm not exactly sure what they sold me. It was dry and had very little flavor. The chow mein was comically bad. I'm not trolling It was almost totally flavorless, the chicken was burnt and (I'm not kidding) smelled like dry dog food. My intent is not bash this place, just giving an honest opinion. The steamed rice and fortune cookie we're very good and the staff was nice. I'll avoid this place in the future and if I'm ever in the neighborhood again I will go to the McDonald's across the parking lot. I don't like MacDonald's.
At least it's better than Szechuan Express. Avoid that place at all cost. My dog wouldn't even eat that nauseating garbage....
