Asahi Hibachi & Sushi — Restaurant in Republic

Had a horrible experience! Coming from our sons baseball game to order food to go. We walked in and they had 10 people in the building standing around the door. (That hadn’t ordered yet) I thought it would be best if I just called and place my order it would help then standing on top of everyone and waiting. The time was 6:23 pm! I called at 6:25 pm! They put me on hold got back on the phone at 6:33 pm to tell me they are not taking my to go order because 1 they are too busy and 2 they close in 27 mins!!! He even mention he had 5 people on hold placing to go orders. So your going to take their to go order but not mine? Your going to take the huge line that will a least take you over the 27 mins to get their food? I was so excited to try this and help local restaurants but unfortunately they need to work on their customer service towards people and need a sign saying we don’t take to go...

Ordered a couple of rolls yesterday for lunch. Price was good for the quantity received. Taste was good and I'm looking forward to heading back today for some specialty rolls. My only negative at this point is that the cucumbers in the roll still had the skins on them. Not the worst thing in the world, but when I'm expecting a soft texture throughout and then get the woody texture that comes with unskinned cucumbers....that was a bit of a shock. Probably won't get anything with cukes unless they start skinning them, but other than that, very glad they're here to provide another food option when we get tired of pizza and "fast food". While the building is small it's hibachi/sushi are among the best. Asahi does have a small area for seating but this little powerhouse hibachi and sushi restaurant targets the "To GO/pickup or delivery options to residents in Republic and it's surrounding areas. Reasonably priced as well as lower priced then the showboat hibachi restaurants where you go to be entertained. Hibachi is plenty portioned and the sushi is above average in it's roll size and delicious. I always order spicy tuna and I had a half order of a flash fried sushi that was bigger then a half dollar and excellent as well.
