Attended for the first time; on a recommendation from a former colleague who had previously worked at Redâs. Very excited about the venue and location we sat out on the patio. It was loud but pretty par for the course for the area. Unfortunately we had extremely slow service throughout the night. As a former service industry professional it seemed to me like our served had too many tables and not enough training to handle it, but he was a young kid just trying his best. Took about 15 minutes after we had ordered our wine to get it it to the table because âhe was underageâ, which is a law in VA, but then the bartender ratted him out when he came to the table that our server had turned 21 last month and just didnât know how to open the bottle. Then It took the same time frame, about 15-20 mins, to only receive 1 of two appetizers that we had ordered. Entrees came very quickly after and we just decided to do without the second appetizer. Most entreeâs met expectations in terms of taste. Then we asked for the check to be split between the two couples at our table (pretty standard). And our server dropped off the check as expected. They were having a âspring cleaningâ sale on bottles of wine (again love this idea, but execution was a bit off) and it was unclear whether the prices already included the discount or not. After we clarified the pricing with our server he took our cards for another extended period of time. My wife had order the beet root and goat cheese salad, and the beet root was a sickly white-orange (almost grapefruit) color, which she ate a bit of, but the rest of us tried to discern what it was because we had never seen or tasted anything like it. She began feeling extremely sick and because it was taking so long with our cards we tried to find the server or a manger. When the server came back over he said âweâre having trouble with splitting the checks, basically I lied to you guys that it was possible.â He said he was figuring it out with his manager, and I asked him to have his manager deliver the check. This took more time and my wife left to go to the CVS nearby to get some medicine. When the manager came by I recounted the entire experience to him and he responded with, âWell food poisoning doesnât set in that quickly.â and a pretty general âsorry that the service was so slow,â and offered more food to go (which clearly wasnât going to be of interest). This was obviously a disappointing response, and he offered no further explanation for our experience for the evening, which contributed to my hunch that our server was underprepared and unsupported during Friday peak dinner service. Unfortunately donât think weâll be back as there are ample options in the area, just a disappointing...
Read moreWent at 12 on Sunday . No wait or anything didnt seem crazy busy, one grad party, Got sat and didnât get greeted until 25 minutes later only because i asked. One person ordered a beer bottle and myself a water , took another 15-20 for that to come. Got a crab dip appetizer it was so good (why we gave 3 stars) & bc i know people try their hardest but tbh i just feel like we got completely ignored and blown off. I never give bad reviews. I used to do restaurant management before covid so i know busy days/shifts. But we waited another full hour for our main course and by then we were just tapped out with patience and had a 3 year old with us sitting for 1hr45min+. We asked for the bill, told them we didnt want the meals coming anymore, so we got the bill for the things we have (btw they charged us $5 for a side of fruit for my sons meal, that i was told would be a substitute instead of eggs/meat) anywho, paid the bill, and the fact that they didnt even 1) apologize sincerely, but didnt even try to still offer us the food we weee waiting an hour on is what honestly blew me away. Nothing, no management card, free meal next time, ir even the meals we waited so long for we didnt get. Look, im not into free stuff for no reason but like i said, been a manager and if someone says they just wanna leave after waiting a ridiculous time, thats my loss and i do all i can to win back their trust to come back to my restaurant. Everyone has bad days but there are so many ways it couldve been more genuine and fixable. The staff / management on that shift really need to reflect because we are dedicated locals and so upset by this experience for my late mother day...
