Nothing with how fast the food came out. The service itself was awful. We were asked by a woman if "there was no room in the front" when we peeked behind the sign that said "please wait for hostess"; and if we had to sit in the back of the restaurant. We peeked in the front and every table that didn't seat a person had a small pile of dishes. We originally were waiting for someone to seat us like the sign asked and no one came. So we went back to the back of the restaurant and practically made the woman who was cleaning tables back there run away. We sat down and waited, then went back to the front after a few minutes to ask to be seated and got told to find a place in the back of the restaurant. We sat and waited. Watching the girl who was cleaning tables clock out and leave, leaving all the dishes on the table and the trash bin next to us. With every table in the back but 1 having large stacks of plates on them. Which 2 people whom worked there made mention of and still did nothing about. Our waitress was very absent minded of us and only checked on us 3 times, 1. For Drinks 2. For food 3. To bring out the food and came back after the 3rd time because i asked for silverware and napkins. I went up for the check, since i was tired of waiting and trying to be waited on. And yes it did take 40+ minutes timed only because I told a friend we just ordered our food, to recieve our food. I'll let that go cause like I was told they only had 1 cook on. Which is an inconvenience. Food was great, service was not so great, just as the feeling of being surrounded by multiple dirty dishesand food sitting out on the tables.. and being forgot about felt worse. Maybe it was because we were in the back. But I did see atleast 2 waitresses on shift, and more behind the counter. Food was great, I hope if I ever stop again it is a better turn out. It wasn't super busy but I will say that other than us there were 5 tables filled up front. None of large quantity. So yes it does get hard. I did enjoy some of the decorations around the...

I have lived in Rice for just over a year. Many times I have driven by this Resturant but never wanted to try it because of comments from my neighbors and sadly because the front outside and exterior very messy. I noticed that the front had been cleaned so I thought well I'll give it a try. I walked in and sat down. A cute ( red head w freakles ) came right to my table. She was warm and welcoming and took care of me beverages promptly, got my order and the food came quickly. The plate of food was not appealing looking. The scrambled eggs were not yellow rather more a black gritty look from a poorly cleaned griddle but edible, the hash browns were absolutely horrible. They were burnt on the outside, and the inside they were soggy not crisp and tasted of old griddle oil ( sorry to say the worst I ever had ). I tried the biscuits and gravy and it was good but wasn't trusting enough to eat eat based on all my above comments. I literally took a little bite of each, got up left my entire plate on the table, went to the counter and paid the $12.50ish bill and left her a $2 tip. I didn't say a word to her. I instead called back after getting my breakfast at McDonald's. I got a man on the phone and he I believe was the one that cooked the food. It sucked for me to share with him my experice and the food. He said sorry but seemed like he didn't get it? No offer to reimburse me? No asking me to give them another opportunity? Service was great, atmosphere cute...

Stopped in on a Friday evening. Ordered the buffet because I was in a hurry. The canned green beans were mush, the boxed mashed potatoes had no gravy, fish and shrimp had too much batter, the only thing I found edible where the meatballs and maybe my standards are too high and proper but the spoon they had for the meatballs, only one could be taken out at a time. I skipped the salad bar because at the moment there was no lettuce and maybe it's the inflation during this administration, but $17.00 for a small selection in a small town restaurant is unacceptable. It might be the only thing that keeps them in business, the one time traffic off of the freeway but this is not a cozy place to eat a home cooked meal at. It is an older building and it shows, the carpet looks like it hasn't been shampooed in 25 years it gave the place an overall dirty gross vibe. 5 years ago the food was good and the atmosphere could be overlooked but now neither are within reason. This used to be the place I stopped at on the way to the lake house...

I see that the owner responded. I live no where near your restaurant. I would welcome a refund but it needs to be over the phone. Terrible! This was my Mother’s Day lunch and we stopped because we were driving through and I like to support small businesses. Buffet food did not look good or fresh. Some patron was wandering around at the buffet with his shirt fully unbuttoned and his naked belly hanging out over the food. My Cuban sandwich was a slice of deli ham and kraft single not melted. Nothing like the description on the menu. I sent it back and it came back on a bun with a scoop of pulled pork added with nothing else. Dry and salty. All of the fries and tots were raw. BLT had undercooked wiggly bacon and no mayo. The ‘chef’ said he was training but there was no one back there with him cooking. I don’t doubt this was just a bad day and the kids that were running the place were doing their best. Maybe should have just shut down for the day.

Small town diner provides the usual fare of cafe food. Rustic interior displays history memorabilia with limited seating. They do run a buffet in the evenings and a breakfast menu during certain hours. My wife’s chicken noodle soup did not come with the standard home style noodles but with elbow macaroni, chunky carrots and celery, small bits of chicken and plenty of broth. Certainly not mom’s. My Country Fried Steak came piping hot smothered in gravy with a baked potato, coleslaw and a breadstick. Overall texture and taste doable. Servers did a good job. Left with a full belly and that’s what we came for.

If you're looking for a place for home cooked meals it's old Creamery in Rice Minnesota they have the best food around and the prices you can't complain. The waitresses and Waiters are always available bring extra coffee or pop. Breakfast is always available and if you're not sure what you want ask the waitress about what's good and ask what the specials are because they always have great specials.
