If you’re anywhere near Rice, Minnesota, do yourself a favor and swing by the Taco John’s drive-thru at 1258 Fromelt Loop NW. This spot has become one of my go-to places when I’m craving something quick, filling, and packed with flavor. It’s drive-thru only, but honestly? That’s part of what makes it great. It’s fast, convenient, and the food is just as good—if not better—than what you'd get dining in anywhere else.
Every time I visit, the experience is smooth from start to finish. The drive-thru moves quickly, even during peak hours, and the employees working the window are always polite, upbeat, and professional. They greet you with a smile, repeat your order to make sure it’s correct, and hand it over hot and fresh every time. That kind of consistency isn’t easy to come by, but this location nails it.
Let’s talk about the food. My usual order is the Meat & Potato Burrito with a side of Potato Olés®, and I genuinely look forward to it. The burrito is loaded with seasoned beef, crispy potato bites, melty cheese, and just enough sauce to tie it all together. It’s big, satisfying, and never skimpy. The Potato Olés® are in a league of their own—crispy, perfectly seasoned, and amazing with nacho cheese or their spicy salsa. I've tried a few other items on the menu too, like the softshell tacos and the churros, and everything's been spot-on.
What I appreciate most about this location is how they manage to deliver high-quality food without slowing down the process. I never feel rushed, but I’m never left waiting too long either. The food comes out hot, the orders are accurate, and the packaging is neat—no leaking burrito sauce or crushed Olés. For a drive-thru-only setup, that’s impressive.
The convenience of this location is also a huge plus. Whether I’m commuting through town, heading home from work, or running errands, it’s super easy to swing by and grab something that’s way better than your average fast food. There’s plenty of space to pull off the road, the menu is easy to read, and the speaker system is clear (which isn’t always the case at drive-thrus). They even keep the area around the building clean and well-maintained—no overflowing trash cans or messy parking lots.
Another bonus? The prices. Taco John’s is already affordable, but this location gives you great portions for what you pay. The Six-Pack and a Pound® deal is my go-to when I’m picking up food for friends or family—it’s a ton of food for a solid price, and it never disappoints.
Even though there’s no dining room, you still feel taken care of. The staff always thanks you for stopping by, and I’ve even had a few times where they threw in extra sauce or a coupon for my next visit. Those little touches really stand out and make it clear they care about the customer experience.
In short, the drive-thru Taco John’s in Rice is everything you want in a fast food stop: tasty, fast, friendly, and consistent. It’s perfect for a quick lunch, an easy dinner on the go, or a late-night snack run. Five stars all the way—I’ll definitely keep...
Read moreWhat a horrible experience at first we ordered and my boyfriend said no tomato on his Taco Bravo. He was mocked and told that it doesn't come with tomato when it does actually. They said it comes with pico de gallo so he said okay. No pico de gallo. Then when he got his order it was chicken fiesta tacos instead, which was wrong. So when he handed it back the kid, the kid threw the bag back on the table and said they would remake it but said they wouldn't take his bag back. Two minutes later the owner comes out and snatches the bag from his hand saying give me that imposing we wanted to keep it and proceeded to argue with him about the tomato that does come on taco Bravo's not understanding her and her employee where still incorrect. What a rude owner. She was disrespectful, still wrong and never apologized. The service was horrible. I will never go back!!!!!!! Update I was contacted today November 11th on my phone by the owner a month after leaving this review. She recognized my name on the review because I had done an interview 3 months earlier and was offered the job but refused .Cassie the owner began bantering with me and telling me she had a problem with the review I left and I told her, are you seriously calling me She tried to make excuses yelled at me interrupted me and continued to tell me that she had a problem with the review I left. How unprofessional for a manager of a company to call you personally on the phone and banter you for the poor service. I was completely flabbergasted that someone would call you personally and attack you...
