My husband and I are new to the area and went to Baghdadi’s upon a friend’s recommendation. I was surprised at the state of the restaurant but more disappointing was the attitude of one of employees. I’m pretty sure he took our order over the phone as well since he was so short with me. I had picked a table to sit at that was dirty and asked them to wipe it and this person said I could just sit somewhere else. He was busy eating and barely spoke to us with more than two words at a time. He was bossy with fellow employees, rude, and put me off before we even sat down.
The only person that made us feel welcome and treated us very nicely was an elderly gentleman named Abu Ahmad. He tried his best to compensate for his colleague’s rude behavior and we really appreciated it.
We ordered the mixed grill platter and the beef skewer platter with rice. Each platter supposedly comes with sides, we weren’t asked which options we wanted. Had to request the rice upon arrival. The grilled meat was good but the rice was not good at all. Bread was alright. We asked for garlic sauce or hummus but they were out and they said they had baba ghannouj instead. The rude employee handed us a prepackaged baba ghannouj that was decent enough but didn’t seem fresh at all. We asked for salt and they handed us the dirtiest, greasiest, salt shaker I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Not cheap either. We paid $46 for what didn’t seem like a lot of food or the best quality or experience for that matter.
If you want authentic Iraqi food go a couple of minutes away to a restaurant...
Read moreI had high expectations from this place just because I’ve heard so much about it by word of mouth but my experience fell very short. Some issues I overlooked because they are normal such as parking. Coming in, I was immediately seated which is good but taking the order was the first challenge. The waiter came 3 times only to say “Can I take your order?” and as I spoke he would dash off to do something else. Finally, when he did take my order he informed me that there was no chicken and no shawarmas of any kind. Everything else is available on the menu. I tried to order the Lentil Soup only to hear “we are out of that”. Then when ordering a fresh mango juice, I was greeted with “we are out of that”. It would have been better to mention that it in the beginning along with the other items versus it coming as a surprise. To keep things going, the food came and it was delicious. I asked for Garlic Sauce as typically this type of cuisine comes with it only to hear “we are out of that” as well. Then when I ran out of ketchup, I asked for more only to hear again “we are out of that”. I asked for black pepper and again I heard “we are out of that”. At this point, I was frustrated and left the restaurant. On my way out, to my amazement, I see garlic sauce readily available. When I asked what that is a gentleman said “oh that’s hummus”. I know what hummus looks like and that is definitely not hummus. Long story short, although their food is good, everything else lacks and I will not recommend this...
Read moreMy Iraqi wife and her family were all excited to come here as it's specifically styled towards Iraqi cuisine, but we were all overwhelmingly dissapointed at multiple points through the experience.
It started off on a good note; their complimentary lentil soup was hot and flavor-wise probably one of the best lentil soups I've had, but that's just about where any good notes can be taken.
The service was lacking to practically non-existent the whole night. We never received any water, had to beg them for any plates or utensils to serve the meat with, and what service we did get the server was extremely short and unhappy the entire time. I'm not asking someone to be fake, but it really seemed like no one there gave a single care about the customer, and I have seen multiple reviews from months ago saying the same, so this must be also coming from ownership that isn't taking charge of ensuring their employees are providing good service.
Next... the food. We ordered the 6 person family meal and after waiting a considerable time, when the rice, meat, and bread came out every single one was luke-warm to cold at best; and the rice legitimately seemed to have been microwaved.
Again, all of this is on top of the fact that we had to beg our servers for even the most basic of things that are just simply standard at any normal resturaunt. I work in the hospitality/service industry myself so this isn't coming from someone who was being...
