I order from here a couple of months ago and got the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was disappointing. So I reordered from them and got it delivered by Grubhub. The packaging was the same as last time. The food was okay but much better than last time. I ended up switching the noodles this time, last time I got the white noodles. The yellow ramen noodles was my least favorite thing about the dish because it felt cheap like they used instant ramen noddles and I did not like the texture of the ramen noodles either. The broth was much better! I was very pleased with it because last time it was very watered down and tasted awful. I also wish the ramen had more topping originally with it. The onions and cilantro was very strong and overpowered the dish in my opinion. I had added fishcakes, seared mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. The other ramen shop I go to Kinatro Ramen already have that in the ramen. One thing that surprised me about the dish was the leafy greens. How do I put it? It reminded me of steamed collard greens I eat for the holidays. It gave me a very homey/ comfortable feeling when eat this dish. I really enjoyed that! The seasoned egg was okay for me. In my opinion I like my boiled eggs in ramen soft boil. This egg yolk was a lil on the hard boiled side and once I split my seasoned boiled egg into 4ths the inside wasnât as seasoned as the outside, which I would have liked. The pork belly was cook so good job with that, but it wasnât tender. Overall, I wish the whole dish had a lil more seasoning and flavor. I will be back to order more food there and try...
Read moreAlright so my parents took my family here yesterday for my Little brothers Birthday (hes 10) And heres what i tought of it.
First of all. Ive heard that this place serves food real quick like Monta Ramen during rush hours, so ive came to try it
So when i came in during rush hour and needless to say they attended us quick so i was already thinking this place COULD actually be better than Monta. BUT when we ordered our Appetizers (Which was Chashu Buns and Takoyaki) it took them 20 to 30 Minutes or so to bring it to us. The Chashu buns and Takoyaki were OK i guess. But the Takoyaki gave me a red flag. The Takoyaki was COOL not HOT like average Takoyaki. And it tasted like microwaveable Takoyaki.
So we took our order for our Ramen. (I ordered Hakata-Style Noodles with Tonkotsu) and I dont know why but it took them 50 TO 40 DANG MINUTES for our Ramen to be served. And that We would be already leaving by 30 to 20 MINUTES if we were in Monta. AND IT TOOK THEM 10 MINUTES JUST FOR 2 NAPKINS?! Like come on. Unlike Monta they took 2 to 3 Minutes serving our Ramen. Even in rush hours.
Lets not forget the Portions. The regular bowl was as big as i wasnt expecting. And the so called "Super Bowl" wasnt as big. Someone had that across the table and Compared to my bowl. Wasnt as big. And Prices. More on the Pricey side. But Monta though. Theyll give you a BIG BOWL for 7.50 (Tonkotsu ramen)
I tried my ramen and it wasnt THAT BAD. But my Favorite instant ramen (Nissin Raoh) Was better.
SO i wouldnt recommend this place as much. (THIS REVIEW MAY BE EDITED...
Read moreWhen you walk in, Maru Ramen proudly displays a sign that states they were the voted best in the neighborhood in 2017. That was a long time ago, and thereâs a reason they havenât won since. Iâve been to this restaurant twice now, and tried different things each time. The service was great, the waitstaff has always been attentive, polite, and quick. I ordered the steamed gyoza and ramen the first time I came, and it wasnât bad. The noodles were undercooked and the gyoza was bland, but it wasnât too bad. I thought that the second time it might be better. I was wrong. I went again on my lunch break after a six month hiatus, and I realized why I hadnât come in 6 months. The ramen was once again undercooked (both times I came during the lunch rush, Iâm sure they were trying to turn and burn, so undercooked noodles make sense) and this time I ordered the fried gyoza, which came out a little burned. This place is underwhelming. The food is nothing special, you can stay home and make better gyoza in your air fryer and ramen on your stove. I appreciate the level of service and waitstaffâs attentiveness. If youâve never had ramen before, give it a shot. Maybe you like it and go again. But donât come here thinking youâre getting 4.5 star ramen as the reviews suggest. It is the only dedicated ramen place around, which makes it the best ramen place around, but itâs a big fish in a little pond. This food here is acceptable, but barely...
