We experienced terrible customer service here. I don't say this lightly at all. For example, I asked for water about 5 times and I still didn't receive and literally had to go to the front and beg for it. If I could give this place negative stars for everything except the quality of the food, I would have. Where do I start? The service was by far the worst I have ever received in my life and I felt terrible for bringing my aged parents to a place like this. The bathrooms had tissues strewn all across the floor and was absolutely horrendous. The smell outside the restaurant smelled of sewage which made me want to wretch. Half the tables were not cleaned. Was truly a nightmarish experience at this place. We go there and initially, it appears that there is one poor lad who is responsible for handling 10+ tables. I don't blame that guy at all but he wasn't even writing down what we wanted and kept forgetting what we ordered. In the end, after my parents were losing their patience, I went ahead and gave my order to the chef in the kitchen. I mean, this is a failure of mismanagement on a monstrous scale. Again, I don't blame the poor chap who kept forgetting because he was overwhelmed and decided to try this in the first place because of the reviews. If they continue this level of abysmal service, they are going to fall faster than gravity brings a rock to the ground. HOWEVER, the quality of the food was amazing which is what is literally dragging the score I am giving this restaurant - possibly some of the best in the DFW area. The lamb and kabobs were just so juicy and phenomenal. Lastly, I want to say that if you look at my past reviews, I do my best to be as HONEST and FAIR as possible and this is by far the worst review I've ever had to give. I truly feel bad since this is such a great restaurant and has so much potential for growth. In conclusion, I would probably go by myself or friends by preparing them, but not take any guests as the service is not appropriate to bring...

I am extremely extremely angry with my experience at Gilgamesh. My children have life threatening allergies. Nuts and sesame cause anaphylaxis and I have to give them the EpiPen and rush them to the ER. First of all our server didn't even speak English well enough to know what sesame and nuts were. Excuse me!! Is your restaurant not training their servers to know basic English that pertains to food ingredients especially if they are major allergens? So another server had to translate everything for us. I specifically said to keep everything with gluten, nuts and sesame far away from the food that we ordered. He kept interrupting me, not letting me finish my sentences then kept saying how he knows the food really well and none of the items we ordered will have any allergens. What's the first thing that came to our table? Rice with nuts! Then all the grilled items were served on top of bread! I was livid! They changed the rice but why did the rice with nuts come to our table to begin with. They offered the same for the meats but why did it come with the bread to begin with? Will Gilgamesh take responsibility for sending my children to the emergency room? Will they pay for the bills? Will they tell the doctors that it was their fault my children had anaphylactic reactions? This is the last time I'm going to this restaurant. On top of all of this we had to waive them down multiple times to get our drinks and to pay our check. Never am I returning to this establishment again. It doesn't matter how good their food is, and honestly I find it very basic. The fact that they didn't care about life threatening allergies and cross contamination is enough for me not to go...

HORRIBLE SERVICE, The beef kebab is what me and my mother-in-law ordered and we assumed it was going to be beef, nowhere on the menu did it say it was practically ground lamb. It had a very strong very strong smell of lamb not edible to those who do not like lamb. Big warning it is extremely gamey they should've mentioned that on the menu that it is mixed with lamb or goat whatever it is that it's mixed with. The service was absolutely horrible the waitress never checked on us not even once and it was slow. then she brought out a completely wrong dish that I did not order. I ordered beef kebab she brought out lamb chunks and when I told her that's not what I ordered. When I told her I didn't order it she got upset and walked away with a weird attitude. When she had to go and grab the right plate and then she apologized for bringing out the wrong plate. Once again all the food was served appetizers that we ordered we never brought out at this point there's still no drinks the fourth time my husband got up to ask for the drinks he had to go up to the table where she was and practically barge his way to get the drinks. she forgot to bring us drinks. We had elderly people eating with us. We came for a birthday dinner and he was elderly and I'm sure he felt very sad that this is how the restaurant performed that he chose or wouldn't recommend coming here. If you love lamb then you may be a fan of their meat if not be careful because the menu is not accurate in the service is awful. Driving home with a severe smell of lamb. I can’t believe how bad the staff was. Never again! Ruined my father in laws...

A Delicious Iraqi Culinary Experience Worth Exploring** Trying a new restaurant can be a gamble, but this Iraqi eatery turned out to be a wonderful find. We had been searching for Middle Eastern food and wanted to branch out from our usual choices. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting, with a warm atmosphere and a friendly staff. Service was quick, and the waiter went above and beyond, offering helpful suggestions on what to order. Upon seating, we were welcomed with a comforting bowl of yellow lentil soup—a perfect start to the meal. We then ordered the chicken shish tawook with rice and a shish tawook sandwich. The flavors stood out, offering a distinct twist compared to the Lebanese-style tawook we're familiar with at Sarah Bakery and Market, which is my kids’ favorite. It seems the Iraqi spice blend makes all the difference! We also tried the half chicken, which leaned towards a simpler, more natural chicken flavor rather than heavy spices. But the true highlight of the meal was the **Gilmish lamb tikka**—expertly prepared, perfectly juicy, and absolutely packed with flavor. Hands down, the best dinner I’ve had in a long time! To top it all off, the restaurant served **Iraqi tea** on the house, a generous and authentic touch that added to the experience. I noticed many customers ordering the fish, so that will definitely be on my list for next time. Overall, this restaurant is a **must-try**, whether you're dining with family or hanging out with friends. The warm hospitality, flavorful food, and inviting atmosphere make it an excellent spot to explore Iraqi cuisine.

Me and my husband came for a really late night dinner, and we got to the restaurant in the last hour of them being open, and we were their last customers. That didn't seem to matter at all, it was as if we were the first. We let our server know we had never eaten this kind of food before, and he was happy to recommend us each a meal that he thought he would like- and he was right! We ended up liking our own recommendations, and each other's! We shared playes for the first time in our entire marriage. We got the mixed grill and the lamb kozi. Our server was always available as we needed him to be, as well, but we never felt rushed or anything, it was just that kind of atmosphere. We were aware of the time though, and ate just enough to feel satisfied and asked for to go plates. He noticed we hadn't eaten much and asked us if we were already through, and we told him our reasons, and he *really* reassured us that we can take our time, enjoy our meal, and we felt right at home. So we ate, and as we were finished he offered us hot tea and dessert too! The dessert was called lady fingers- you want that. I'm telling you, save room for dessert! It'll be hard to do, because that food is delicious, but super worth it if you do!! I only give the atmosphere a 4 because when we were driving up, it looked like a dark alley, and as late as it was, I almost turned around. But I would have never known what I was missing out on- and I would have somehow still regretted it. I could say so much more, but.. you gotta go. Just do it!
