I’ve been a customer of Ethos for several years now, usually visiting the Parkway location, and I’ve never been disappointed—until recently.
I was excited to introduce some friends to Ethos after a morning hike at Badger. We stopped by the location shortly after they opened at 7 a.m. on Saturday, 5/24. There were two staff members working—one was friendly, but the other, who was making the coffee, did not offer a welcoming experience.
When asked if our order was for here or to go, we all said “for here,” as we were looking forward to relaxing and enjoying our coffee and pastries after our hike. However, we were given our pastries in to-go bags and our drinks in disposable cups. When I grabbed a plate from the stack near the napkins, my friend tried to do the same and was quickly told by the barista, “Those aren’t for that.” I politely explained that we had asked for our order to be for here, but instead of an apology or acknowledgment, I was told the white plates were for mug orders only. Her coworker eventually handed us blue plates, overall the barista made it uncomfortable.
We really tried to be understanding—sometimes people have rough days—but it was hard to make sense of the barista’s rudeness given that the shop had just opened, and there was no sign of a long or stressful shift. It left us confused and disappointed. What was meant to be a relaxed and enjoyable visit turned out to be a inhospitable experience.
I was looking forward to sharing this spot with friends, but instead, I left feeling a bit embarrassed by the poor customer service. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for...
Read moreFirst and last time coming to this spot. Food and drinks were okay but service was terrible. Employee acted annoyed when I asked questions about the food, and then when I asked them to warm up a pastry after she handed it to us. I asked for our food and drinks “for here” she mumbled they are out of plates, and we received everything in to-go packaging. They gave me the wrong sized drink, but I did not even bother to ask for the correct/larger size. I did not want to deal with more attitude. Was not busy and they had plenty of staff, so really did not...
Read moreGood pastries but staff behind the counter are incredibly sloppy. You order a vanilla latte, they will give you a latte. You ask for pastries warmed up, they will forget to take it out of the oven. You ask for a house mug, they will give you a paper cup. There is always something. You have to be top of every step to get your order correctly, which defeats the purpose of going to a coffee shop to enjoy a stress-free moment. Does not matter if you tip or not. They will find a way to mess it up somehow. I guess this is why they have minimum wage in...
