I have done a lot of traveling and tried vegan food all over the country on road trips. However, the Green Spork has quickly become my new favorite and by far is one of the best Iāve ever been to! Hereās why:
Theyāre completely plant-based! (They do use honey in a few menu items, which makes them technically not vegan, but honey is locally sourced which is a big plus). You donāt have to be plant-based or vegan to enjoy this food though, itās amazing for anyone.
Theyāre all gluten free! I donāt actively try to avoid gluten, but noticed a tremendous different in the quality of food here being as it had no wheat. The bread used for the sandwiches and toasts is definitely the best bread Iāve ever had. Itās really tasty, flavorful, and wholesome. Not too heavy, tastes healthy and delicious at the same time. The baked goods were also tastier than any gluten filled treats Iāve ever had.
Ingredients are locally grown! Lettuce is grown hydroponically and they have some produce for sale in the fridge when you walk in as well. Every veggie thatās included or blended into a sandwich, toast or salad is packed with flavor and tastes so fresh.
Prices are incredibly affordable. I value this so much, because it allows people to actually be able to afford to eat healthy. Blake currently offers a discount to first time customers which was unexpected but really kind. The value for the price is great too⦠a ātoastā is actually as filling as an entire sandwich and they also offer deals on baked goods if you buy 6.
The baked goods are SO dreamy! They have everything varying from muffins, to cookies, to cinnamon rolls, to cupcakes and heavenly rich brownies and more. The best part though is these donāt give me a sugar migraine like most desserts do.. you can tell theyāre made with GOOD ingredients and arenāt too overly sweet (but definitely not short on flavor!). You will have a hard time just getting one - you may as well go with 6 while youāre there.
Smoothies are SO tasty! I make my own smoothies at home every day but these have creatively combined flavors/ingredients (like the Chocommus and Purple People Eater) and some are designed specifically for detoxing like the Beetox and Wellness. Each smoothie Iāve tried so far has been outstanding!
Everything is PACKED with taste! Donāt let āplant-basedā fool you! The colorful ingredients and perfectly seasoned combinations will leave you wanting to try everything on the menu. The quiches are also made with the best vegan āeggsā Iāve ever tried. I had one with tomatoes, mozzarella and broccoli. I also fully fell in love with the cauliflower panini and the artichoke toast. The BLT sandwich was another unforgettable lunch option. I havenāt tried the other options (yet) but plan to!
Location is conveniently off I-95 in Richmond Hills so this is a perfect lunch stop on your next road trip! They have cute outdoor seating or you can grab your food to go.
Cute market! They sell some natural goods and artwork in the cafe to support other small businesses which is SO cool.
Staff is very friendly and competent, and Blake the owner is everything and more! Blake is passionate about what he does, and it really shows. He is always smiling when you walk in and is often the person who will be cooking and serving your food. He supported and sponsored Savannahās first annual vegfest this past weekend which was extremely amazing. You can tell he loves what he does and enjoys making the community happy with healthy and delicious plant based food.
You may have a wait a few minutes for your food, but you know when youāre waiting itās being truly made in small batches with quality and love. This isnāt fast food or grab and go - everything is truly made fresh to order⦠and it is SO worth it! Order online or wait outside when you get there.. the owner personally runs the orders out to you which adds an extra personal touch.
Shop small, support local, eat wholesome and healthy, be happy with tasty food. The Green Spork is everything and I canāt wait...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband has Celiac Disease and lactose intolerance, so finding fun places to eat where he can feel safe is a challenge. I stumbled onto this place online and made sure we planned to go during our trip to Savannah, even though it was around 30 minutes from our Airbnb. I am SO glad we did!
Everything in this restaurant is gluten-free and vegan. We loved all the plant-based options, and everything we tried was spectacular. I don't mean it was "great considering it's gluten-free" or "tasty for being plant-based" - I mean it was all excellent in its own right. The cinnamon roll we shared was better than most I've had that were full of gluten, dairy, and other more processed ingredients.
Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere was good, as were our drinks and meals. We got an iced dirty chai, iced wellness tea, a hot cinnamon roll to split, an acai bowl, and the avocado "bacon" panini. We left way too stuffed to eat any more, but we took home a to-go basket of various baked goods (including another cinnamon roll, some muffins, and a few cookies). I think their baked goods are all made with almond flour, so be careful if you're allergic. I'm sure they would be up front about what you could or couldn't eat safely there, though. The staff seemed like super sweet people!
Literally the only thing I didn't like about this restaurant was that it's impossible to take it home with me and go every day in my home town! I HIGHLY recommend this place. We will 100% be back.
Side note: The fact that this place is open late enough that we could even go for dinner if we wanted to is AMAZING and increases the chances that we'll be back. Most dedicated gluten-free facilities close after 2pm at the latest, so it's wonderful to see that this place has more standard...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMan, what a find. My sister and I stumbled upon this coffee shop because we were looking for a place to cowork while in a new city. We had no idea how many creative vegan food options there would be! We got the beet smoothie and the purple people eater and they were both surprisingly good. I also got a power bowl with veggies and it really hit the spot. We spent quite a few hours there so we also got a cookie and a cinnamon roll to share and they lifted our spirits š„°
Funny enough, we later found out that Chef Blake was also baking the cake for the wedding we were attending! The short version of the story is the bride has a lot of dietary restrictions and the original baker fell through. He ended up saving the day for us and made a beautiful cake that she told me was incredible, and on short notice too.
The best part about this place was how gosh darn friendly everyone was. Blake and Jake/TimothĆ©e Chalamet (the resemblance is uncanny) were all smiles and we got to know a bit more about the history of how The Green Spork came to be. Everyone coming in and out of the store had nothing but good things to say about the place, too. They really have a cult following, after only 3 months of business! If youāre in the Richmond Hill area while visiting Savannah, youāve gotta check...
