Only two servers in the restaurant acknowledged my presence when I first walked in looking for dessert for a dinner party. They were both very sweet and helpful. The female server of the two showed me some of the chocolates and smaller treats, and the male server helped me settle on a red velvet cake. I attempted payment twice with two different employees. The male server rang me up and left to box up my cake, but I pulled my card out too quickly and the payment declined. I then informed a woman -who I now know is the manager- that it didn't go through, and she pulled it up again. I thought it went through on the second try, but apparently not, because Sara called me later in the day at 5:48 telling me that I needed to go back because I "didn't pay for it". Not a polite 'could you come back because the payment didn't process' or anything like that- just a straight accusation, as if my non-payment was intentional.
Even after apologizing and telling her I'd go by to pay sometime after 6 after work, I guess she didn't believe me because she called several times more, and at 6:09 left a rude voicemail, saying verbatim, "you said, like, 15 minutes and I'm still waiting here. We closed at 5. I'm taking the time to call you because first, the service we gave you. And it's not paid, and the server's gonna have to pay for it. So I'm gonna call you again in 10 minutes. Hopefully you answer the phone, otherwise I'm pretty sure you understand how this business works, and I'm pretty sure that you will call us back." As if any of this was my fault, and she was doing me a favor by staying past closing time. I went in, paid, apologized, said I hoped I didn't get anyone in trouble, but got a passive aggressive "thank you" and no apology from her.
Spoke to the manager about it the next day. Got an apology, but also a lot of excuses. All blame was shifted onto the male server for not ensuring my payment was processed, even though she was the one who rang me up the second time. Apparently I misunderstood Sara's wording and misplaced irritation, which was meant to be directed at the male server. The manager also said she heard me tell Sara that I'd be in in 15 minutes, which is why Sara called again and left the voicemail. It was was so late after closing, and they were eager to leave. I explicitly told Sara that it would be 10-15 minutes AFTER 6 because even though the business closed at 6, I still had paperwork to file and closing duties to fulfill. It wasn't that she didn't believe me when I said I'd be back, and she didn't mean to accuse me of not paying even though that's what she did. I just misunderstood that.
I don't appreciate being treated like that. I could've said that I'd be back at a more convenient time for myself. I could've hung up, ignored any more calls, kept my $70 and never went back when she said that I didn't pay, but I'm an honest person who loves supporting small businesses. I also don't appreciate them throwing the male server under the bus when it was an honest mistake on both sides, and the manager had the chance to catch the unprocessed payment, especially since she rang up another order after mine. Very unhappy with my experience.
Only gave two stars because the two servers who helped me were...

It’s been awhile since my beautiful wife and I have had a nice little lunch date so this place was a very pleasant surprise. For starters... they do serve lunch here, see last few pics for menu, as well as an enormous collection of chocolate delectables and other sweets. This place is a genuine locally owned and operated semi hidden peace of paradise. The people who greeted us and the sweet young lady who served us were very kind and professional. You can tell that the owner is also the operator and very involved in the quality of the atmosphere and the food. It is obvious from the get go that there is a passion for the craft that is put into everything you see, smell, taste and feel. I do not normally give a five star but, this time I clearly did, and only did so because that is the highest rating you can give.
Anyhooo, my beautiful wife selected the breakfast panini and what a great choice it was. For starters, it was beyond delicious and second, that one serving would have easily served us both. She let me have a bite, but just one, she is saving the other half for breakfast tomorrow, can’t blame her for being stingy, that panini is pretty good.
As for me, I had an off the menu daily special. Being Tuesday, the special was tacos. I know, right? Tacos at a chocolate place. The plate came with three tacos, Spanish rice and refried beans. The taco fillings they offered were ground beef, chicken, or pork. Naturally I requested one of each. All three versions were great. The rice was the only so/so part of the meal. The tacos were very flavorful and they were on, what appeared to me, home made tortillas. They were also a bit bigger than traditional Mexican tacos (Taco Bell is not traditional, for those unaware). Traditional tacos are usually quite small, just so you know, but these were twice the size with all the same awesomeness you would find in a traditional Mexican restaurant.
Total meal cost: breakfast panini and a sprite: 12.25 + tax, taco Tuesday special tacos: 13.00+tax. Overall we are looking at 25.25+tax for two meals that could have been easily been shared. We could honestly, thanks to portion size, easily got a lunch for two for under 15 dollars plus tax.
The receipt in the picture near the bottom is only that high because our inner fatty’s, after viewing the enormous breadth of chocolate treat offerings, took over our consciousness and requested a linty of Togo treats for themselves. Honestly we were powerless to stop them, not that we could or would have tried to put up much of a fight, if were being honest that is.
Please shop local when ever you can, they always care more and always appreciate the business. I can nearly promise you this, if you come here you will...
Read moreWe recently used this establishment for a small volunteer get-together. It was raining when we arrived, and there were no other customers seated inside. We were expecting 4–5 people total so we chose a table that could accommodate a group of 6. We did have someone bring their spouse so we scooted together another table and another chair. Everyone ordered drinks, and about half the table ordered food.
Our server was very attentive at first, which we appreciated and assumed was because the restaurant was slow. As time went on and a few more tables were seated, a second employee began checking on us as well, repeatedly asking to take plates even though we were still eating and offering more drinks after we had declined. It started to feel a bit uncomfortable due to how often we were being approached.
When one of our group members went to pay, she was informed that gratuity had been automatically added because of our party size, which was fine with us.
However, as the last few of us were settling our checks, a female employee approached and loudly reprimanded us in front of other patrons. She told us that Sunday was their busiest day, that this was her livelihood, and that we were preventing other customers from parking and dining as well as preventing delivery drivers from coming in to pick up to go orders. We were taken aback by her tone and accusations, especially since the restaurant was half empty, there were still multiple empty parking spaces and no cars parked near the entrance when we left.
As a small nonprofit without a physical location, we often hold meetings in local coffee shops and restaurants, and our volunteers always make a point to purchase food or drinks to support the businesses we visit. For all they knew we could have been just a group of friends or a family having a celebration or get together. The fact that we were singled out and publicly chastised for supporting a local business and spending our money there is shocking. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected in a town that many of live in. Lesson learned, this is not a business we’ll be returning to, either professionally...
