I would usually cook EVERYTHING for Thanksgiving but this year I was very busy between FT work, 3 active children and going back to school PT. I decided to cater and support a black owned business with decent reviews. I reached out to Nomad catering via email and requested the Fried turkey family meal that included mac and cheese, stuffing, gravy, crab-orange “chutney”, garlic green beans, rolls and obviously fried turkey. After traveling 40 mins and waiting for over 30 mins, we noticed that the restaurant was unclean and disorganized. I was worried but the money was spent. The food was swiftly collected as we had a few more stops to make. Upon opening each container my daughter yelled “oh no” immediately after opening the Mac and cheese….this dish included elbow noodles and three slices of American cheese! After trying the other food…the turkey and stuffing very dry, the green beans were salty, mushy and over cooked, the gravy and 5 rolls were hard and tasteless. Very low quality food. The presentation of a turkey cut in half and sold in a plastic bag was mind blowing. This catering service is mediocre at best, the portions were small, and i would not recommend their services to anyone. This poor experience is unforgettable and will order catering from businesses with more integrity, menu clarity, and better quality food and service. Please don’t waste your time or money here.

I found this place during black restaurant week because it had vegan options listed and we were in search of a new brunch spot. I stopped by and sat at window table. Its a small but cute little place to eat. We chose the vegan chick sandwich and fries, vegan fish sandwich, french toast, vegan sausage and shrimp & fries. The first thing I noticed was they were very reasonable priced. The service was a little slow but once we got the food it was piping hot. The chicken sandwich was good, but needed a lil seasoning. I like to taste my seasoning. The fish sandwich & french toast were perfect as is. Im not sure if I would go back, but I was happy to support during black restaurant week.

Food was the worse!!! We order the vegan Philly, vegan chicken sandwich (tasted like rubber) & also the eggplant sandwich (burnt ) for dinner. Everything was thrown together & looked unappetizing. This was our first time getting food delivered from this place and we were very excited. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we open the sandwiches to eat. Maybe this was a bad day for the company but we will not give it another try. We never leave reviews and thought this was the worse experience we have ever had when it came to vegan food.

The deli's located in a pretty rough neighborhood. You can tell by all the empty store fronts and dilapidated buildings surrounding this place. As soon I tried pulling into a parking spot, I was already being accosted by some pretty shady looking characters in a red Nissan, in the middle of the day. My food was prepared relatively quickly, although the order was wrong. I had ordered the sandwich plain and I heard the cashier tell the cook that. It was packed to the brim with lettuce and tomato. It took me a few minutes to take it all off. And just out of curiosity, while sitting at my desk at work, I reached for a tape measure and measured the sub. It was less than 10 inches even though I had ordered a 12 inch and was charged for one. The sandwich itself was nothing special. Just your run of the mill, hole in the wall convince store quality sandwich. I could've gone to Wawa or the BP around the corner and got one that wasn't packed with half the worlds supply of mayonnaise in it. Not worth the hassle nor headache...

Nomad Deli represents one of the true diamonds of Brookland Park & Northside Richmond. As the neighborhood undergoes change (read: gentrifies), many businesses along Brookland Park Blvd will certainly come to pass — Nomad Deli will not be one of those.

Nomad offers hearty, filling and affordable food to Northside, specializing in serving delicious classic and unique sandwiches. Whether you’re coming in for breakfast, lunch or an early-ish dinner, Nomad Deli will meet your needs.

In addition to their salt-of-the-earth deli fare, Nomad is run by a family and that welcoming, loving, and community-driven energy is built into their business. As a new resident to Northside, Nomad serves a community-beacon and welcoming point for all...
