I took my wife this weekend to Rincón to celebrate our anniversary. I wanted to take her to a good restaurant to start our celebration. I carefully read the reviews in Tripadvisor. I chose estela restaurant based on the reviews. I definitely made the right decision. Everything about this place is amazing. I have not been in a restaurant in a while with such a professional yet personal service. Everything in the menu seemed amazing. Our waitress explained perfectly everything on the menu. We had the queen snapper tiraditos and the homemade sausage. Those appetizers were amazing, particularly the tiraditos with a peruvian touch. As main course, we had the iberic pork (a special breed of a pig that is native to the Iberian peninsula) with a cream of avocado, cucumber, jalapeño and basil oil. I have never had this kínd of pork before and I think is going to be difficult to eat pork after tasting this one. My wife loves duck so she ordered it. I was so happy when she looked at me and said this is the best duck I have ever had. As to desserts, we could not decide between the key lime brulee and the flourless chocolate cake. We ordered the key lime brulee. It was the best we ever had. But we got the chocolate cake on the house. We were so glad because it was decadent. This restaurant has a list of wines that are not known. But the waitress recommended a great wine that went well with our food. I am going to look for it in the internet to get a couple of cases. The expresso made with 100% local coffee was absolutely delicious. The quality of the food, the service and portions are worth every penny that you spend in this wonderful bistro in Rincón. Thank you for making my anniversary an...
Read moreIf I can give zero stars u would. Starting with the appetizer I ordered their version of the Cesar salad and the lettuce was way too big and the fried banana pieces “aranitas” did not go well with the salad. Of course, this is my opinion and since this dish was only $12 I can deal with it. However, I ordered the main dish of yellow tuna and when I asked the server if I can get it well done he said it can only be medium done, but that it is fully cooked. I didn’t understand how that can happen, but I didn’t want to question his judgment. Once the plate came out I dealt with the medium cooked fish, however what I couldn’t deal with is the absolutely disgusting sauce combination that he used to prepare the dish and it also came with sweet mashed potatoes. I have had my share of fish and I have never had something that didn’t go together so much. Sweet fish would/should be limited to ponzu sauce in my opinion. When I informed the server I was able to change my plate to a vegetarian rice noodle meal. At this point, I felt that no matter what I got from the menu I would probably not enjoy it so I just ordered the cheapest dish on the menu. Which I had to have water to eat, but I was so hungry that it didn’t matter to me as long as I can eat it. The biggest surprise was when the check came and the server kept the fish meal on there which was 3 times the price of the dish that I exchanged it for. I didn’t even follow up with the server and proceeded to pay and leave. To say the least, I will never go back and I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Very bad customer service and the food was horrible to match it. Very disappointed since I love Rincón and most of the restaurants that I have...

I’m not sure what happened but everything was truly a miss. When you factor in the price of everything, it ends up being ~ $60 per person to sit outside with flies everywhere. I’ve been to multiple restaurants outside, but I have never been accosted by so many flies so quickly. The restaurant knows it’s a problem because they have some weird fans that take up a bunch of space and work a bit, but that experience at the start already made the restaurant lose so much of the atmosphere. I would suggest calling and asking for the updated menu because everything we saw online was delicious but when we went, all the options were odd to say the least.
I got the gnocchi soup because that’s the only way I can describe it. It was a few gnocchi with a chicken broth, an egg, and shredded chicken. It was the first gnocchi I’ve had that I did not enjoy.
Other dishes at the table were the fish of the day (also on a broth), the scallops to share (two tiny scallops), a $60 plate of four strips of fatty meat, some great drinks, and my sole glass of water that was never refilled.
Honestly, I think it might have mostly been the menu options for this month, but I doubt I’ll be coming back after considering everything else. It’s just not worth the bang for your buck. We spent close to $400 and we would have had a better dining experience at a dive bar.
I’ve had cheaper meals at Michelin star restaurants.
The good: service was ok. Menus are legible and physical. Drinks were fantastic!...
