I am giving Zero stars. Should have known it was no good when barely anyone was there. My husband and bonus daughter are Dominicans and wanted some of the food that I don’t make from home like modongo. Ordered off of menu- got bill and was overcharged for several items. Kids meal posted as 5 in menu- got bill charged 10. Fried chicken is supposed to be 12.50- got bill charged 15. Modongo was a vegetable stew more like soup with more veggies and a few pieces of goat meat- 15 bucks. Rip off. When approached they acted like they didn’t understand English. Said my son who is 4 looked big so they didn’t think the kids meal would be enough so they charged ten and didn’t even ask my husband or myself whether it was okay. The bill was 96 dollars. They won’t get another dollar from us. A total disappointment and me being an African American.can make better Dominican food. Terrible establishment and they lost what would have been loyal customers. Crooks! Do not support this business! There were also several open items on the receipt that did not match the menu. Súper fraudulent to charge people a different price than what is...
Read moreThis is a review about my first experience with this restaurants owners, not the food. One early morning I visited a business next to this restaurant and parked in the only parking lot near the businesses. I told myself by the time I finished with the other business this restaurant would be open and I could try it out for the first time. Unfortunately that did not happen because as I was patronizing the other business the owners of the restaurant called the business to ask that I remove my car from the lot. Apparently the lot is not shared and/or is private. That is not the issue however, it really just bothered me that when I went to move the car there was only one other car in the lot. It was STILL empty around noon. My first experience with this establishment rubbed me the wrong way and they lost what was to likely be a loyal customer, as I frequently support local businesses. In times like these especially, be nice to your neighbors! It would not have hurt for my car to stay in a...
Read moreso I'm part 2 of teaching my husband the different types of authentic spanish cuisines, and so I had to take him to a hidden gem called Cabon Y Lena Dominican.
The drinks are strong, the food is seasoned to perfection, fulfilling but light, and the prices are bomb!! But those people not familiar with truely authentic dominican cuisine be warned you have to know how to place your order in order to make a complete meal. For example:
We ordered the chicken empandas as the appetizer, then the galic chicken with arroz con gandules, the chicken salad, and tostones for our meal. Then we got an empty plate and put a little on each dish on our plates to make the perfect meal.
For drinks, I had the casa migo w/ passion fruit, and my husband had it with coke.
This food literally took me back to the Dominican 🇩🇴 Republic and tasted like someone's momma was in that kitchen throwing down.. 😋 👌
This is definitely being added to one of my lists...
