Glasgow Residential Restaurant – A Warm and Varied All-You-Can-Eat Experience at UCR
While visiting the University of California, Riverside (UCR) campus, I stopped by the Glasgow Residential Restaurant, a popular dining hall recommended by a friend. Conveniently located near the Engineering Building (Winston Chung Hall) and nestled in the heart of the student residence area, it's an easy walk for anyone exploring campus.
As a guest, I was welcomed warmly by the staff, who charged $17 for a full lunch—a fair price for the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) experience. The space is spread across two levels, with different food offerings on each floor.
On the first floor, you’ll find:
A salad bar with a wide range of fresh veggies and even a vegan sandwich option.
A grill station offering basics like grilled chicken and corn.
A dessert bar with cookies, muffins, pastries, and a standout s’mores crispy treat that quickly became my favorite.
A self-serve soft-serve machine with flavors like vanilla, pineapple, and strawberry.
A drink station with a variety of fountain drink options.
The second floor offers a broader selection, including:
Pizza, pasta, carnitas, cooked vegetables, and other hot entrées.
Spacious seating and large windows with a nice view, making it an ideal spot for longer, more relaxed meals.
What really makes Glasgow shine is its AYCE model paired with a casual, friendly atmosphere—perfect for lingering over lunch with friends. It’s not just a student staple, but also a great on-campus dining option...
Read moreGlasgow is one of the new residential dining halls in UC Riverside, adjacent to the Dundee residence hall.
Currently during the covid-19 pandemic, Glasgow is serving as a take-out-style residence hall, where students come in and select their food, and leave back to their living space. Alternatively, if students wish to opt out of person-to-person orders, they can also use the Glas2Gow application that allows them to order their meal and pick up once it is ready, or at their convenience.
Obviously because of current restrictions, Glasgow has not had the opportunity to showcase its full potential. But with a two story student capacity, outdoor seating and a variety of future options to choose from, Glasgow, along with other newly opened facilities like The Barn, have a lot to look forward too once in person instruction is implemented and scheduled to happen Fall 2021, according to Regents of the UC.
If you are a prospective, transfer, or parent of a future highlander who is schedule to begin instruction this upcoming Fall 2021, the opportunity to live in the community of Dundee-Glasgow is an option you surely cannot miss to...

Also music is too loud
Now that I have visited GlasGlo serval times I would say that they need more plant based main dishes. Morning usually is just egg scramble (that is really good), lunch will have about 2 options, and dinner rarely has 3 options but as of lately it is only about 2. Some days the food is good and some days it is cold and flavorless. As a full time student and a full time worker it is hard to meal prep or sometimes even keep up with grocery shopping so I usually go to Glasgow or the other buffet on campus. Not having those options sucks because then I just have to quickly make something or order plant...
