Title: A Night of Thrilling Cuisine and Spectacle at Kabuki Japanese Grill
Right in the heart of Roanoke, Virginia, lies an exceptional culinary gem, Kabuki Japanese Grill. I embarked on my gastronomical journey there on a cool summer evening, and it was an absolute revelation of flavors and fun that truly left an indelible mark on my dining experiences. Here is my take on why this establishment is well deserving of a solid five-star rating.
From the moment I walked in, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere, a perfect blend of traditional Japanese aesthetic and contemporary design. The soft lighting, coupled with the intricate murals of Japanese art, set the tone for an evening of enjoyable dining. The seating arrangement is both spacious and intimate, conducive for group dining, yet also comfortable for solo visitors or couples.
One of the defining highlights at Kabuki is the splendid show put on by their highly skilled chefs. At your table, they masterfully slice, dice, and grill your chosen dishes with precision and flair. The dramatic clanging of knives, the flame-kissed ingredients, and the witty banter from the chefs contribute to a performance that's both delightful and captivating. It’s more than just dining; it's an immersive and thrilling teppanyaki experience.
The service at Kabuki is nothing short of top-notch. The waitstaff are prompt, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their attentiveness never wavered, despite the busy crowd, ensuring our glasses were always filled, and any request was swiftly attended to.
As a vegetarian, I have often found dining at grill houses to be quite the challenge. However, at Kabuki, my dining preferences were not only catered to but celebrated. The chef took extra care to prepare my meal in a separate area, showcasing a level of respect and understanding for dietary preferences that is genuinely commendable. This act of consideration not only safeguarded against cross-contamination but also showed a commitment to customer satisfaction that's hard to find.
Despite catering separately to my vegetarian needs, the chef still managed to make my meal a part of the shared group experience. I reveled in the theatrical flair as he displayed the same charismatic antics and technical wizardry while preparing my plant-based meal. The end result was a medley of vibrant, tasty vegetables, grilled to perfection and bursting with authentic Japanese flavors.
The rest of my party, carnivorous in their appetites, were equally thrilled with their dishes. Whether it was the juicy, tender steak or the fresh, succulent seafood, each was prepared and presented with the utmost finesse. The synchronization between spectacle and food preparation made the entire dining experience a joyous adventure, bonding the group together in culinary delight.
Kabuki Japanese Grill is not merely a restaurant; it's a place where food, artistry, and camaraderie coalesce beautifully. The attention to detail in service, the expertise in delivering a delightful show, and the dedicated catering to various dietary needs sets Kabuki a cut above the rest. The enchanting spectacle of the grill, the warm, pleasant atmosphere, and the quick, attentive service form a gastronomical symphony that is as pleasing to the senses as it is to the palate.
To say that I was merely satisfied with my experience at Kabuki would be an understatement. I was thoroughly impressed, captivated, and delighted. As a vegetarian, finding a place where my dietary needs are met with such care and consideration is a rare gem.
For anyone in Roanoke or its vicinity, seeking an unforgettable dining experience, a visit to Kabuki Japanese Grill is a must. The taste, spectacle, and experience are sure to linger in your memories, enticing you back for more. It is, without doubt, a five-star gastronomical...
Read moreLousy food at the grill. Birthday dinner was ruined, we had reservations and were sat within reasonable amount of time, drink orders took, soup and salad served, pretty routine fare although tasted good. Sushi roll ordered and was delicious when it came out. The problem with the whole rest of the meal began when the chef came out, I didn't even catch his name before he started zipping bowls of sauce around the table. I have no idea what they were although I overheard that one was yum yum sauce. He then started grilling the food, the problem being that he spent the whole time chatting with a couple sitting on one end, I don't have an issue with chatting itself, believe me that I couldn't care and am not the talkative type anyhow, but not when it's at the expense of our food. He spent so much time chatting that our food sat and was overcooked and he just kept talking and adding butter and soy sauce everything was terrible. The shrimp were grilled and placed on our plates, they didn't look bad but sat and sat waiting on the veggies, rice, and steak. I was sitting directly in front of the grill and I was just watching as the veggies went from being cooked okay to overcooked and mushy and then burned the chef just talking away and occasionally moving the food around on the grill adding more butter and soy, that was then served to everyone, next the rice and same thing, talk, talk, talk, flip it around, keep adding butter and soy. I prefer to have everything ordered on my plate before eating so I can mix the veggies and meat into the rice, I think by this point we were about 30 minutes into the meal and I only had about 3 lonely shrimp and a pile of charred mushy veggies, finally he takes a break from talking, the rice at this point was a dark brown and he had cooked so much of it, everyone had a big pile on their plates and he had about 2 more shovels full that nobody wanted, he finally tossed it onto the plate of the people he'd been talking so much with. Finally like the last episode of a bad made for TV miniseries he starts the steaks..I didn't mention, but the chicken breast that some others had ordered had been sitting on the back of the grill, so facing in front of me, I had an excellent view to watch the chicken as it became charred and dried out, so as usual more butter and soy, and he chopped them up and served them. My steak which was the thinnest NY strip steak I've ever seen and about the size of a piece of sliced cheese was supposed to be cooked medium and was also supposed to be a share a plate with my spouse was cooked past well done, also charred he tossed three little chunks on my wife's plate and a handful on mine, we were probably an hour into this meal at this point. The 3 shrimps he cooked at the beginning had been sitting all this time waiting on everything else. I just couldn't eat it, it looked so unappetizing, just a big overcooked and mushy mess. I complained to our server, he did offer to have the meal recooked back in the kitchen, but by then I had lost my appetite, the server called the manager and they again offered to have it recooked, but in the end they took the plate and kudos to them the comped the meal, my wife had eaten some of hers but they weren't concerned about it. I've eaten here before and it was good, so I hate to give them a bad review but the chef or whatever he was, was no good and ruined the meal. Either he was new and needed further training or he was hired and not vetted, I'll also say that the manager listened to my complaints and was sympathetic to the problems I cited, unfortunately i think next time we'll try...
Read moreThis past Valentine’s Day I went to my favorite spot of several years now, Kabuki. My 17-year-old daughter had worked there for a few months. We were seated at a table at 9:30 and our order was taken right away however at 10:15 when my daughter got off from work we still did not have a chef. The restaurant was not overly busy at this time because the Valentine rush was mostly over. My daughter told me that she was told by the manager she could not come and sit with us because we had already placed our order. Since we have not gotten anything from our order I asked our server to check and see if she could sit with us. I can completely understand if they had already pulled the order ready to cook it or are already at the table but neither of those things had happened. The server went back and checked in the kitchen and came back and told us that nothing had been done with our order at all so it should not be a problem to add her and she sat down with us. 10:45 rolls around and we still have not seen a cook. Other people at the table had children with them who had fallen asleep on the table since we have been sitting there an hour and 15 minutes with nothing. At 10:55 the manager comes over to our table and tells my daughter she is terminating her for sitting with us after she told her not to. I politely explained to the manager that we had asked before she sat down since nothing has been done with our order and we were told it was fine. My daughter was not trying to deliberately defy her. The whole table of people we didn’t even know was listening to the whole thing as well as several people from the kitchen or other waiting staff. My daughter was humiliated. I cannot imagine why things were handled this way because it is extremely unprofessional and I am really disappointed in this place for the way they handled this. I tried talking to the manager and explaining to her that between social events for my kids, birthday parties, business meals, or just eating there on a regular basis because it really was my favorite place...That I had spent between $8000 and $10,000 in this restaurant over the past 12 months. We were told it doesn’t matter how much we spend there, or if we’re regular loyal customers. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was to hear that because we truly thought a lot of the staff there and we thought we meant something to them as well. Long story short, it looks like it really is not about the customers or about loyalty. Very disappointed!! I waited A full four days before posting a review because I wanted to make sure I had had time to calm down and to make sure I wasn’t overreacting. I still feel very betrayed and I feel others should know that apparently it is only about the money they bring in and not about the...
