We loved this place from the moment it opened. Food was spectacular and the restaurant was new and clean. Last few times we were there for take out, it has been a different experience. Old, torn paper signs on unwashed doors greet you as you walk in to the extremely overcrowded waiting area that does not provide room for social distancing. The employees at the desk, despite the large jar indicating they feel they deserving of a tip, are indifferent and unwelcoming. The large bags of Panko breadcrumbs propped on the dirty laundry hamper by the bathrooms make you wonder what the state of the kitchen cleanliness is. The formerly amazing pork fried rice that used to have tons of pork, veggies and onions has morphed into nothing more than soy sauce infused white rice and little else.
Too bad - I hope they care enough to get back on track.
Update Feb, 2025. Unfortunately this place continues to slip. We normally get take out, but the times we do dine in, we can’t help but notice the torn seats, filthy floors, boxes and supplies stored in public areas, including on the hibachi grill. They really need to invest in their facility as it is way past worn out.
As far as the food, while it is usually fresh and hot, my concerns about the food remain. Last night we ordered chicken with vegetables, and there were literally about 7 to 8 tiny pieces of chicken lost in a sea of vegetables. Almost none to be found. Same with the PFR, almost no pork at all. I realize costs are up, but if prices need to be adjusted so that reasonable amounts of protein can be served, they need to do this. It is not a one off, it’s literally every time now.
I hope they return to the food quality they had when first opened, or they will go the way of...
Read moreWe order takeout from Eastern at least twice a month. Typically my girlfriend calls in the order and I grab it on my way home from work. She hardly ever orders the same thing because she enjoys trying new dishes and also getting old favorites, while my order is pretty consistent. For the second time I arrived at the restaurant to pick up the order and they claim it is not in the system. Both times they confirmed they remember the order coming in by phone but admit "For some reason it is not in the computer". We order at a busy time (Friday nights) so my girlfriend tries to time it out and order at least 40 minutes in advance so I wont need to wait. Once they admitted the issue they want to take my order. Here's the problem, I know what I got but have no idea what my girlfriend ordered. Now I need to call her and find out. Turns out she's in the shower probably thinking I'll be right there with the dinner she ordered 40 minutes ago. So I wait until I can get ahold of her, have her tell me what she wants and place the order at the counter. Takes 30 minutes for it to come out. At this point I have been sitting at Eastern for nearly an hour. First time this happened they were apologetic and gave us a discount. Second time I got defensiveness and attitude from the older woman at the counter and a blank stare from the young guy. Food here is good, especially the Sushi but the service is going downhill and I don't appreciate being inconvenienced like this TWICE. Fix your computer system, if for some reason it didn't get entered properly call the customer back and...
Read moreDoors open at 11:30am for lunch so we arrived at 11:30am. We were seated at 11:50am. Thankfully we were off work. No cheerful staff. No happy greeting. Waiter was attentive, but very soft spoken so hard to hear.
Order the 3 sushi roll special - Alaskan, Spicy Crab, and Shrimp Tempura. All were very good. Alaskan could have used a bit more rice but still very good 8.5/10
Friend ordered General Tso's, Best he has ever had 10/10
I ordered the Mongolian Beef. It was overly sweet, very saucy, more onions than beef. The beef was tender but really, it was very saucy and sweet. Lots of onions. 4.5/10
The pork fried rice that came with the meals lacked pork and any type of flavor. 1/10
Chicken fingers were typical oil drenched chicken fingers found in American Chinese cuisine, won't rate.
Crab Rangoons were big and filled. Crispy and tasty. Solid 9/10
Ordered 3 Identical Hibachi lunch specials to go for the family dinner - Steak & Chicken with Medium rare steak and side noodles. They packaged it up, and I got home and decided to check. Hardly any steak. The steak and chicken were over cooked....hockey puck level. Very little of it as well, even for a lunch portion. One order they messed up on in that it had their flavorless porkless pork fried rice. Very little meat and vegetables and a whole bunch of sauce. I mean, I can't imagine the person that would be proud to have plated that. Image attached. Over all for the...
