Food is excellent!!! However, the service we experienced on our last trip was less then superior. My family has been coming to Farotto's for over 30 years and we were displeased with our last trip. Our server seemed like we were a bother. After 20 minutes of trying to find a parking space, we finally got in and as I was setting my newborns car seat on a chair and getting my 8 year old settled, the server came over with waters and says, "well you're going to have to move that" referring to my diaper bag I had placed on the floor momentarily while getting situated. I felt the way in which she communicated that was very rude as it was very obvious I was trying to get settled. Moving on, my husband asked for the sampler platter that we understand is not on the menu anymore and hasn't been for a very long time, but has never been an issue for us when we order it, seems like everytime we order it's common for guests to ask for this platter. The server said they can't do that, but she was going to ask the kitchen manager, she returned and again we were told no. If it's not something you all do anymore, we understand, but it have been something that's not been on the menu for years, yet still is fulfilled, seems odd and the visit tonight has been poor already and this was the icing on the cake. We love the expansion and the nice patio seating that's been added, but you'd think that if you can seat so many then you'd be able to make accomdations as well in the parking lot. Overall not very pleased with tonight's experience which is a shame because we are trying to celebrate my...
Read moreI went out to eat here with friends last Friday. I arrived at Farotto's at 5:55 PM and got the very last parking spot around while the rest of the party had to park a block away down a residential street. We had about a 7 minute wait for a table which wasn't bad considering they don't accept reservations for parties less than 8. This is a clean restaurant, but apparently standard practice is to place the menus directly onto your napkin / cocktail plate as you are seated. My menu had some suspicious oily / slimy substance on it (maybe not a sneeze, but still), so I made it a point to try & not wipe my face with the napkin.. Our waitress was efficient and attentive. I started my meal off with their house salad which was generous in size and fresh tasting. We split an order of toasted ravioli which was also quite good. I ordered the "Pasta Farotto" which is a huge bowl of penne noodles, spinach, chicken, tomato, etc. soaked in a tasty sauce. I would highly recommend it especially if you're hungry (as a reference, my 96 year old grandmother could probably get three to four meals out of it). We were so stuffed at the end of the meal, we split a piece of their cheesecake three ways. All-in-all this restaurant serves large portions of good food at reasonable prices, so I can understand why it's popular. Tight parking and the dirty menu aside, my only other minor quibble was the lack of warm water in the men's room. The final verdict: bring your friends here but carpool; carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you; order the Pasta Farotto and you'll be...
Read moreMy friend was excited about taking me here. She had grown up in the area & this was a popular place. We were visiting for the weekend from KC. She made a point of telling our waiter, Evin, a young man, that she grew up on Farotto's & she was excited because it was one of the few places where you could get green olives on your pizza. When her pizza arrived it did not have green olives on it, like she ordered, but green peppers. When we brought this to Evin's attention, he did not apologize or offer to take it off our bill, he suggested that she order another pizza to take home! (He did not say that of course it would be on them) He did offer to have another one made but it took over 20 minutes for the first ones to show up & we expected to be able to eat together. My friend was very gracious & said she would just eat the pizza that was brought. When our bill arrived, I was quite surprised to see that there was not even a discount applied. My friend was surprised but was not going to say anything. I approached Evin & told him he needed to do something about the bill. He replied, defensively, that i could have just asked to which I replied that I should not have had to ask. I reminded him that the order was wrong! He returned with a new bill having given her a 50% discount on only her pizza. Really? By then, my friend & I were both quite over it. I realized after leaving that we should have asked for a manager. She is also quite over this restaurant & neither of us will...
