I frequently visit my local Whitey’s Ice Cream shop in Rock Island IL, a place I’ve always appreciated for its friendly atmosphere and the hard work of its young staff. Unfortunately, my recent visit was disappointing due to the customer service I experienced.
As a regular patron who places orders weekly, I noticed the manager on duty (Natalie) was not preparing the order as requested. I kindly stopped her to provide clarification, but when the order was complete, she informed me I owed additional money. I explained that the error was on her end, as the order had already been paid for. However, she chose to debate the matter, leading me to request a refund to defuse the situation and discontinue the conversation.
Another employee, in an attempt to resolve the situation, offered to cover the difference, but this gesture, while well-intentioned, only exacerbated the issue. The principle was never about the difference in money but about how the matter was handled. I had not received the full order nor left the store, yet the receipt provided did not reflect the refund properly, showing only a zero-dollar balance.
When attempting to contact Whitey’s corporate office through their website, I was redirected to contact the local store for any concerns, limiting my ability to address this issue further. I believe this situation highlights an opportunity for reviewing customer service protocols and implementing additional training at this location to ensure a more consistent and professional experience for loyal customers...
Read moreI’m addicted but this place can’t get an order right to save their life! Only time I have ever gotten an order correct was if the older lady made it. For how much they charge you would think they’d be sure to have consistent training and then to deny making it wrong or just adding to an already melted messed up order instead of remaking! Bad customer service. sent my hubby for my shake and they of course made it wrong (I get a butterpecan shake with KitKat added) it was DROWNING WITH PECANS with no KitKat at all. Then she denied it saying it only had half of the KitKat because she thought that’s what he meant?? I was so disappointed he took it back And he brought it back a melted mess with a KitKat bar obviously broken by hand in like half or 3rds. But the last time the lady made it it was so good! Super disappointing if one of the little girls are going to take your order just leave and come...
