II have reviewed Supporo previously. In the last month I have visited again twice. Yes, its that good. I feel this restaurant deserves a lot more credit. Sat at Hibachi for the first time ever. What a show both times! One Chef made an onion ring volcano. The next Chef skillfully displayed his talents by throwing eggs into the air only to let them be careful caught by the side edge of his spatula as he holds the spatula vertically and cracks the eggs in a way I almost can't conceive. Almost like magic. True showmanship. Lots of skill and obvious practice. lIt's now tradition for our friends and family to order desert before dinner. Some how those oh so famous Ninja Fruit rolls call me back to Sapporo every time. It may not be the most health conscious decision, but it cant be any less healthy than the dessert after dinner. The staff always make it seem like it's normal and never question our dessert preferance. Love the atmosphere. Did you know know that Sapporo's holds the title for best restaurant in town? Neon LED lights, bubling anti gravity fountains and a gorgeous waterfall fountain, fiber optic chandeliers. Great food . Great service, as well as friendly personable staff. Food was fast n yummy. Clean and very tidy environment. Even though I botched orderingng for the first time. The talent that the Hibachi Chefs display is impressive, alongside with thier Saki "pouring" abilities. " One, two, three, four, five......." and the Saki keeps flowing. "More Saki, more babies!" you may hear your Chef say after getting you wasted on some good Saki. If it's your Birthday than watch out because the party will turn all attention towards you. That's what this restaurant is.... A party that never stops. If you have a special someone, special occasion or don't know what to give someone this holiday season consider this restaurant your "BEST" bet at a good time. Kids stare in awe at the show. Then they realize they wanna grow up to be Hibachi Chefs. Just when we started to wonder about the fate of our food service industry this restaurant shines and sticks right out like the TREASURE it truly is. I have been to this restaurant 7 to 10 times now. Amazing service, quality good tasting food and attentive service with a smile and a show. Now that sounds like fun to me. Even the management/ owner of Sapporro is down to earth. He listens to his customers. Smart. Apriciated. I would like like to tell him and all employees Thank You. Arrigatto. Thank for all your hard work and I applaud and appreciate what you have brought to our community. Happy Holidays to all staff at Sapporo! You have made our Holiday...
Read moreRecently during my time here, i have dined at Bonsai, Siam king, King Buffet, and finally here.
This place is the best of all four of them hands down for quality, flavor, and service.
I ordered a wide variety of things here, taking a chance on their jalapeno bombers stuffed with krab rangoon which paid off handsomely (See image) they were absolutely wonderful, though the jalapenos were as mild as bell peppers, they had all the flavor i'd been looking for for rangoon and had plenty of meat in them.
I also tried the standard krab rangoon, and while these were on the sweet side for rangoon, they were also they best ive had vs the other restaurants as well, though the jalapeno bomber rangoon were a few steps above these, these were good nonetheless.
I also ordered the gyoza pork dumplings, and again, these were very good, no complaints from me here.
the noodle dish i had was the Chicken Yaki Udon, which came with a miso soup and a house salad(which i subbed out for a seaweed salad for an extra $1). the udon itself was fantastic with a very strong flavored sauce that i had been looking for for a while, it had plenty of meat and vegetables and was just delicious. seaweed salad was good and as expected, but the miso soup was a bit of a head scratcher for me, it was good, but it wasnt the miso soup i was expecting, instead it had a clear spicy chicken broth instead of the standard miso broth. it tasted delicious, but it wasnt what i would expect for a miso soup.
for desert, i had the cheesecake xangos, which are basically frozen cheesecake flash fried in pastry dough and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. nothing too exotic, but they were a nice finisher for the meal tonight.
with a hearty container of leftovers, i was expecting my bill before tip to be about $50 which was a lot of food for the price. i do not know what the grand total was, as a celebrating patron paid off my tab without saying a word to me which was nice, so i simply guesstimated and paid it forward to the staff with a tip totaling what i was planning to spend here tonight.
If you're looking for a cheap place to get a decent meal, i wholly recommend King Buffet, and if you're looking to spend a little more to get a great meal, I %110 recommend Sapporo as your next meal venue.
They also offer gluten free variants of dishes for those with dietary restrictions and have a kids menu. plus if you bring someone in on their birthday, they'll do a whole song for you and bring out a cupcake with a sparkler on it for the...
Read moreThe blizzard lay ahead of us. We stopped to charge the car here and knowing that we were in for a long trip back to Salt Lake City, I was not particularly eager to hit the road and strap our kids back into their seats. There's not a lot of bathroom options near the supercharger outside, so to justify using Sapporo's facility I decided that I would seriously consider eating there if there were to be some sort of lunch special. I took my son inside with me to let him get some wiggles out. He enjoyed the wall fountain although I could tell he was a bit perplexed. I tried to explain it to him, but he's not even 2 so it was mostly futile. When we came out of the restroom I grabbed a menu, and while I looked, the hostess got busy making a balloon animal. She handed a little balloon dog to my son, who had no idea what was going on. Once we got some eyeballs on it, he was proud of his new doggie. What a kind gesture! Sure enough, Sapporo had some great lunch options at reasonable prices. I invited the wife and daughter inside for an authentic hibachi-style lunch in midwestern Wyoming, and we had a blast! Our son was restless from our trip, so I let him stroll around the restaurant. Every staff member we met was kind to him along the way. Then back at our table he was understandably reluctant to sit in a high-chair or booster-seat again, so our server volunteered to walk around the restaurant with him while we ate some of our food. Although we were the only table left in the restaurant by the time we finished, the service that we received was really great. Most servers would have rushed us out so they could take a break or go home or do side-work, but our experience was warm and welcoming. I was really happy to see such kind people enjoying themselves while at work. Even for a nice tip, most servers would never show as much care and attention to our little family as ours did. We even got help and entertainment from another server without asking. Most of the time I write a facetious critique of places, but I was so happy that we were able to stop into this place because it's a small, happy memory of a long, miserable car ride that will probably stay with me forever....
