Wonderful House Restaurant — Restaurant in Rock Springs

Last June when I was in the area I discovered Wonderful House. I've eaten Chinese in New York's Chinatown and LA Chinatown, and I've eaten it in Siberia, about 100 miles from the Mongolian border. The food at Wonderful House was outstanding, easily as good as anything I've ever had. The service was as close to perfect as you can get. The guy was super attentive, kept the water and tea flowing and plates out of the way without being intrusive. The pot stickers were to die for! I enjoyed it enough that I'm routing the trip I'm leaving on tomorrow so that I pass through Rock Springs specifically to eat there again (which is how I happened across the reviews)

I believe the reviewer claiming bad food, bad service and food poisoning is being dishonest. For one thing even if they did get food poisoning that day, unless they had nothing to eat for a day or two before, they can't say with any certainty where they got it - let alone which sauce with "preformed toxins" in it. Based on the owner's description of her behaviour, she sounds more like a person trying to extort money. If she was actually concerned about conditions at the restaurant, she would have contacted the health department, not harassed the owner for money.

I use to love this place. I have eaten here many times and was excited to bring my hubby to the restaurant to share in the good food. I was so disappointed in the food this time. The rice was dry and the chow mein and almond chicken was tasteless. What made me the most upset was the egg foo young. This is my favorite dish there at Wonderful house and when they brought it out, this was the first thing I dug into on the table. I was unpleasantly suprised that my egg foo young was cold in spots, hotter than hell in others and to the point of being frozen in other places. I brought the issue to the attention of the waiter and they said they would make me another one. The second one was so hard, I bent the fork tryng to cut into it and it was at this point that I was done. I spent 40.00 on two meals and both my husband and I walked away disappointed and not satified. Not sure if they have a new chef or if they have become complacent on their quality but they have lost this...

Just went in for a quick lunch this afternoon. The food was brought out and there was a hair in the rice. We alerted the waitress and just wanted it to be fixed/new rice. The owner or manager came to the table and was beyond rude and accusatory stating “this doesn’t happen here and I cannot find the hair.” When we said it was there and all we wanted was some new rice. She came back with clearly the same rice just chopped up and moved around. Did not try to rectify the situation at all. We weren’t looking for anything to be comped. Ended up leaving and paying for our apps and drinks because of how awful this woman treated us. Such a shame. Our waitress was so nice, whoever this lady is should take some pointers from her...
