This place was gross. I never review restaurants and I felt compelled to leave one for this place.
We ordered orange chicken, sesame chicken, and mushroom chicken along with 2 orders of crab rangoons.
I'll start with the appetizers: the crab rangoons from this place were salty. I don't even know what else to say. Every other place I've had a crab rangoon from was sweet, but for some reason the ones we got were salty. Not just a little, but Pacific ocean, fell off my surf board with my mouth open salty. It tasted like salted cream cheese deep fried in more salt. I love a little salt but this was crazy. I couldn't even finish a whole one.
The sesame chicken was as dry as a hot June day in the Sahara. It was more like chicken jerky. The sauce was literally just soy sauce with sesame seeds dumped in and I'm guessing, more salt added.
The mushroom chicken had a good flavor and the mushrooms were good but the chicken was covered in fat. Not something that you could ignore, LARGE pieces of fat just falling off, almost like they added it afterwards....
The orange chicken was good but it wasn't special. I could make this at home and it was the only dish that didn't suck. Maybe it was because everything else was gross but it wasn't bad.
The fortune cookies were good too but I didn't win the lottery from the numbers on the back. Not a good way to spend $40. Get some McDonald's instead and ask for Szechuan sauce for a better Asian experience. We will never order...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've never been a fan of Chinese takeout until J&I changed my mind. They're no frills and no fluff but that allows their good food and service to shine through. They make ordering on the phone fast, simple and easy. The service is extremely quick and our food is always hot and fresh. They wrap each container and have cardboard between them to prevent spills and damage in transit.
While the location itself is quaint I appreciate that it's a mom & pop ran small business and love supporting them. We also get a kick out of the little photo shrine to their dog. What the restaurant may lack in atmosphere they certainly make up for with the food.
The portions are big so you really get your money's worth. The General Tso's chicken is quality pieces of meat, which is usually my biggest hangup with most takeout joints. The sauce is tangy, sweet and spicy and there's plenty of it. The veggies in the lo mein are perfectly tender crisp and the noodles are flavorful and abundant. We always have leftovers for the next day.
This place is truly a hidden gem of the area as far as...
