Found this place thru a family. Ive ordered a handful of times from them thru a food delivery app. The Asada dinner is amazing. Huge portions of meat. Burritos and tornado are great as well.
Just recently we visited the actual location. The salsas that are served with the chips are spicy so be careful when having some. we had the mole dobladas and taco Dorado dinner. Again, huge portions. The mole sauce was more sweat then spicy but it was very good and had a good flavor. It was filled with chicken. Chicken was fresh not like that old chicken some restaurants be filling the enchiladas with.
The tacos Dorados dinner was also good. Fresh and crunchy tacos. Rice was better then other places.. it even had some small pieces of vegetables, just like most hispanic moms make it. The beans can be a little better, they needed alittle bit more flavor but not a big deal.
Restaurant has a simple set up. Plastic chairs and plastic tables. Not a fan of the plastic table covers but not a deal breaker. Temperature inside was perfect.
Staff was extremely friendly, Had some small talk and were very nice. Parking is big enough.
Highly recommend. They also have great desserts, try a coconut...
Read moreHad good expectations for the food of this restaurant because of the reviews and was sadly disappointed. The owner is in the wrong business. She truly has a green thumb and should run a plant greenhouse. The restaurant is filled with beautiful, natural, flowering plants she is obviously expert at growing. I suggest visiting there for the plants. The food; not so much. A restaurant with good food draws patrons throughout the day. That is not happening here, and I can see why. A Mex restaurant needs to do at least the basics well; guate, beans, rice, salsa, and tacos, and this food just fails. Beans and tacos are just so-so; nothing special in flavor. The rice is abysmal; so bland it is almost tasteless, and who puts potatoes in their rice? Bell pepper and mushrooms are better additives to complement fried rice. The red salsa is just harsh and hot; the green is just a little more savory in flavor. The guate is ordinary. The menu doesn't offer much in variety or in signature dishes. Their parking is one of their best options. There is a lot better Mex food to be had in Rockford. I doubt this place...
Read moreAfter hearing that this is the best Mexican restaurant in the Rockford area, I decided to treat myself after work for take out. Boy, am I glad. I had the best verde-style enchiladas and a chile rellano on the side. I also tried a rice-flavored sweet drink but couldn't tell you what it is called, but I'll be back for it. The food was amazing, and anyone who says bits of veggie shouldn't be in the rice is out of their mind. The rice was so flavorful, and everything tasted like love. Sounds corny- but try this place out for yourself and see what I mean. I could eat here every day, it's that good, but if you get the red or green sauces just know they are a bit on the spicy hot. I am a very mild spice guy, so they still tasted delicious but maybe test them first instead of pouring them all over your...
