Danish Bakers — Restaurant in Rockledge

The baked goods are amazing. 5/5 stars. The staff is always friendly. I come in a few times per month to get sweet treats.

My issue is that somewhat recently they have stopped allowing us to tip the workers when paying with a card. This is a ludicrous policy. I hardly ever carry cash anymore and I always liked to throw a few extra dollars on top of my order for the workers.

This is a relatively new policy as I used to tip on card every time I went, and it really bothers me that management would impose such a hardline rule that directly impacts their workers take home pay.

I hope the management reverses this decision and allows me to give their establishment more money to go to their workers.

I would love to be able to change this review to the 5 stars the baked goods, and the customer service deserve, but as long as this draconian rule is in place, I'm afraid 2 stars is about right.

It's 2024, why put a new rule in place that causes your workers to take home less pay? I imagine it might make it harder to retain the amazing front of house workers that make all my visits...

I am aware that this will mean nothing considering what I witnessed on Monday afternoon. I had placed an order days before a scheduled pickup of Dec 22 nd after 3pm. One would think that a pre order would insure a smooth process. Unfortunately not so! I was told that they only had one dozen iced crumb buns instead of the two dozen I had ordered. There was a lady standing next to me who had ordered 13 buttercakes and was told they had 2 and she would have to come back. She explained she lived far away and the person said well you can wait about an hour! In the last few years I experienced the following…one year I was give the entire wrong order..another year I was told my PRE ORDER was not ready and I would have to come back! I explained I also live quite a distance away . The Danish bakery has been a long standing ritual for my family for our Christmas celebration. I assure you we will find a new ritual. Place was recommended by a local and dear relative of mine that’s also a foodie. It’s a mom & pop type of establishment. The young lady that fulfilled my order was sweet and friendly. I stopped by on a Friday evening 20 minutes before closing which is not the best time to see everything on offer and to get a 1st impression. I purchased the Italian Style cookies (didn’t try), a few apricot pastries (5 out of 5 star), a few lemon tarts (3 out 5 star), a few raspberry linzer cookies (5 out of 5 star) and 1/2 dozen oatmeal cookies (didn’t taste).
