Long story short: they gave my food to someone else and I don’t even recall getting a proper apology. Just the offer of a free drink.
I went here Sunday, June 15th on Father’s Day to get lunch for my family and celebrate my father too. Ordered in advance and arrived to pick up. They told me my food would be ready at 12:35pm when I called - no problem since I got there early. I sat and waited. Saw them give a woman bags of food and she couldn’t leave fast enough. I asked a lady after if my order was ready and she looked nervous and walked to the back. There were about 4 people at the counter and someone should have given me an answer, but no. They knew I paid and didn’t address me until 12:42 to let me know they had given away my food to that woman. They asked her if she was Joe and she took my family’s paid-for food. Now - this is a serious operational issue. Did no one think to ensure she got her proper order? Nope! It’s on an honor system where people can just take other people’s food. They offered to give me a drink as I waited as my family’s order was remade. I declined and got a refund. This was terrible and inconvenient because my family’s lunch was not ready and I was on a schedule. I used to have good experiences at this place, but the gross incompetence and lack of empathy for the situation ensured I will never go here again and I will never recommend them again - ever. I felt like I wasn’t important and my family’s inconvenience didn’t matter - and that is what you do not do to customers...
Read moreThe restaurant is clean and bright. The staff is very nice and responsive. The salsa bar was in good shape and the pico de gallo was very fresh. The Jamaica drink was flavorful and not watered down like some other places. My spouse ordered chorizo and eggs which was serve in 7 mins. She said it was good but the refried beans was a bit watery. I ordered 7 mares but hold the mussels. That took longer before it came out. I think I waited a good 25 mins. I supposed this soup takes time to make it good. It was very good overall but i thought the soup broth looked a little bit oily and thick. It did have a good flavor and wasn't too spicy. There were 3 different kinds of shrimp. It was interesting but I prefer the shrimp to all be shelled and tail less. The octopus was thick and chewy but I don't know if its possible to to make it tender without making the customer wait even longer. A better alternative is squid. Their body and tentacles are skinny and gets tender quicker. What would make this soup even better is having Dungeness rather than the small crab with skinny legs that made me work too hard for it. 7 mares costed $19. I enjoyed it overall but probably wouldn't order it again unless they make changes I suggested. However, I will return to this restaurant to try their menudo and...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately were disappointed. Here are the details.
As we walked in the place is quite spacious and clean. The salsa bar had a great variety of delicious dips and pickled items. We placed our order at the front and within 10 minutes. The food was delivered. The service was fast and nice. The Horchata had a strange smell/aftertaste to it so I did not continue drinking it. Out of the three dishes that we ordered only one was quite tasty - quesabirria tacos. we rate those 8/10. The other two dishes that we got - mixed fajitas and spicy shrimp were very bland. The portions were generous, but the taste did not make it to the plate. I’ve never had more tasteless fajitas ever before. We read the fajitas 3/10. My husband wanted to get something very spicy so he ordered the Diablo shrimp, but the sauce had a sweetness to it and it felt like it was made with sweet tomato paste. If someone likes sweet and spicy, maybe this dish is for you but for him, it was not what he was...
