A little freaked out right now. As I was about to start this review, I quickly read the first review that pulled up. OMG! It starts out word for word with what I was going to type! I mean, like freaky, "There was some mystical psychic there 5 days ago who had our exact experience!!" Word for word. Okay. I'll continue as if I wasn't just freaked out. This was our first visit to The Rails. We've been to previous restaurants in the same location, so the dining area is familiar yet different for us. We didn't know what to expect otherwise. The food was delicious. The portions were good. Kim, the server, was great. She was attentive and prompt without being intrusive or annoying. Service couldn't have been any better. We read some reviews as we sat. As we read, our expectations dropped. So, I want to say that people apparently have completely different expectations and taste than us. We tried a variety, and liked everything. The sidewinder fries are different than ordinary fries served evwrywhere else and seasoned perfectly. Onion rings were very good. The pretzel appetizer is hot and soft, served with a delicious beer cheese. Philly cheesesteak is yummy, but I understand some people not loving it. If you prefer basic, plain cheesesteak you won't like it. It's got a different cheese, and what I'm pretty sure were caramelized onions. I loved it. Daughter's cheeseburger was loaded with cheese, seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The meatball sub was our least favorite part of the meal and it was good. It just seemed a little more ordinary than the rest of the food. The food came out quickly. The whole experience was good. We can't wait to go back. Maybe for bingo night. Oh, the only negative, as mentioned in the review my alter ego (I was going to say evil twin, but they left a good review, and i don't know how they spend their weekends) wrote 5 days ago, the AC unit drips in spots, and one spot is right about the table we sat at. It's 100 degrees with a humidity of 5000, so not much that can be done that I know of, but I'm not a HVAC pro or nothing. It dripped twice in the whole time that we were there. Read moreThis was supposed to be a momentous birthday celebration, but it was the worst restaurant experience ever. To help the waitress, my wife typed out our order for 5 people and offered to text it to the waitress. We saw how busy she was & we tried to help her. The waitress typed the order in the computer, and we waited & waited, just like we waited & waited for our drinks. When the food arrived, it was cold & one order was totally wrong. (How does she get the order wrong when it was typed out for her?) We waited an hour before my husband complained to the owner. No one apologized during this entire wait until the complaint. We do not like to complain. My wife has been a waitress before. Finally, we ask for the check. The food is still not here. Finally, after we pay, the food for my hungry family member arrives. We get it to go, of course. Then, we get an apology. With lazy service & disgusting tasting food that is not even lukewarm, this restaurant will no doubt be closed in the next 5 years. Read moreMy family had visited the Rails many times, but this last visit went off the rails. We are a family five, and we ordered our food. Four of us received our food in about 15 minutes. My wife's order didn't arrive. We were assured it would be out soon. After 10 more minutes, we asked our server about the status, and again she said soon. After 20 minutes of the rest of us receiving our food, my wife asked again, and by now we know something is wrong. The server said she would check. She came back and said it was almost done. After 30 minutes, the four of us were done with our meal, and my wife had no food. My wife told the server she didn't want the food, and of course, who knows if it was close to being done or nothing was cooked. It was clear the server was trying her best to navigate the situation, but there was no explanation about what happened and no apology.
