I’ve visited twice since this off-season gem opened a few weeks ago. Phenomenal for every occasion. On our first visit, we went all-out with a larger group; for the second, we slid up to the bar last-minute for an immensely satisfying burger after a long day when I was too busy to feed myself and nothing else was open in the area. Both phenomenal experiences.
Highlights were the confit duck—finally! someone who can properly prepare duck!—which was balanced and brightened by the accompanying frisee et al; the steak frites, order to whatever temp the kitchen intended, which was on the pinker side of med-rare but uber-tender and rich, with a perfect crust; and I had a few bites of the chicken and I’ll probably order it next time when I’m looking for the ultimate comfort food on a cold night. Without going into detail, the starters are also great—go with a group and literally order them all to share. Prices are generous for the quality, local area, and state of the world in 2023.
White Negroni and the Manhattan riff are executed perfectly and a good mix of interesting, while still accessible and fun. Great wine list, with lots of small producers.
In a slow time of year in a place where I’ve often spent too much to be underwhelmed, this spot is a breath...
Read moreFirst of all, meanwhile Maine is the main COVID hot spot in US now, tables next to the wall in the restraunt were REALLY close to each other - distance between tables was that little that people sitting at the next tables were way more audible than my husband who was sitting in front of me. There was not even a little bit of privacy and no basic covid precautions.
Service was fine (our waiter was nice and helpful), BUT when I was making reservation two weeks before, I added information that my husband has his 30th birthday this day, but they did nothing to make him feel even little bit special on this day, they didn't even bother to tell him simple "Happy birthday!" which was a huge disappointment to me (he didn’t know I told them about his birthday).
Food was good enough, BUT absolutely not worth those prices. And it's definitely not “$$” restaurant. For two appetizers, two entree dishes and two cocktails (one of them was non-alcoholic) we paid about 150 dollars. We didn’t eat this expensive even in restaurants marked as “$$$$“ in Washington DC for the same amount of dishes.
I definitely do not...

Still just as amazing of an experience as the last time. Ordered the charcuterie board again, along with the seared salmon and the braised short rib for our entrees, capped off with dessert of beignettes with a delicious caramel sauce and a lime panta cotta with a graham cracker crust. The flavors of everything paired well. Highly recommended for couples, or small groups wanting to get together. Would not recommend bringing children.
First timer and the whole experience was just wonderful. Very small space. Very intimate. I would not recommend bringing children. Handicapped accessibility is very limited. Food was INCREDIBLE. We ordered the charcuterie board as an appetizer, and the Harvest Chicken Breast as well as the Short Rib. Excellent flavor. Small portions, but beautiful presentation. Very limited seating, so I recommend booking a reservation. Doug, our waiter was very quiet, but knowledgeable about the menu and was very kind...
