LouRedas was a great find! You will not be disappointed. Nestled in the middle of a small strip mall this gem was a godsend. I arrived about 2 hours to close and the restaurant although not packed was bustling. I sat at the bar as I normally do. There was plenty seats available. The layout was casual dining with tall ceilings. Dimmer lighting set the tone for a relaxed dining experience. My bartender Ashley was awesome. She was attentive, she shared information on the menu along with her favorites and some fan favorites. Loved her! I ordered a club soda, 3$ seemed steep for carbonated water but some places apparently charge... All in all she was great and I would recommend hanging out with her at the bar if you get a chance.
I ordered the broccolini starter which was very good. It was not giving starter its definitely more of a side, with that being said I did eat it with my meal as a side and enjoyed every single stalk. I also ordered the Scallops dish with jolof pilaf and the grouper cake dish. Listen........both of these dishes were spectacular, bursting with flavor and portion size was perfect. I did eat a bit of each and have to pack them up because I am only one human :).
Overall 10/10 great experience. I have no real negative remarks here. I would 100% go back and although I am a traveler and dont get back to places often, this place will def be on my radar if I ever find myself back in Rocky Mount!! Thanks again!
Update: I did return to this place for another round of good experiences. Bartender Kristy was great. I enjoyed the Burrata Board. Everything tasted fantastic. (A recommendation I heard was to have the charcuterie board during brunch hours with a side of bacon and...
Read moreI came in around 5:3O PM and it seemed pretty dead inside. There were 2 or 3 other tables sat in the restaurant. I sat at the bar and ordered the cornbread to start with. It came out cold, dense, and bland. Apparently the “Skillet Cornbread” is not actually cooked in the skillet according to the sever. Skillet itself was cold as well as the cornbread, the Tabasco butter it was served with was rock hard and unspreadable. I eat out fairly often and NEVER send food back but I had to send this back, it was terrible. I ordered the rib-eye medrare with an additional side of the brisket dirty rice since it sounded interesting. The brisket dirty rice was more of a jambalaya if anything and kit was sugary and bland and room temperature. The mashed potatoes that came with the rib-eye were gummy bland and cold, and the rib-eye we undercooked. Even if I ordered it rare it would be undercooked, it was ice cold in the middle. I had to send this back as well. The server didn’t seem phased by this as I didn’t even get a “sorry about that” from the server or anyone. I asked for the check so I could pay for my drinks and leave to go eat somewhere else. I was the only one sitting at the bar besides someone who appeared to a manager of some kind drinking beer at the bar, completely oblivious to what was going in the restaurant. If a guest sends back a dish let alone all their food, you would think a manager would stay least come by to make sure everything was ok. Bad food, poor service, terrible management. No wonder their sister restaurant Tap 1918 went out of business....
Read moreOn our way down to Florida, we stopped by LouReda's an American Table for dinner. Being a Friday, we had to wait to be seated. The food was average and the service was super slow. It was nice that they allowed us to sample beers. However, we had to ask several times before we got water. They had three Noble Ciders (Tart Cherry, Peach, and Spiced Chai) available to order. Our server Chloe recommend the Spiced Chai hard cider. It was delicious - light, sweet, fruity, and spiced.
For starters, we ordered Skillet Cornbread, which was served with butter balls but we waited an hour for it and it came after we finished dinner.
For dinner, we had the Roasted Beet Salad with cheddar (instead of Goat Cheese Crumbles. The Roasted Beets consisted of arugula, baby kale, roasted red beets, craisins, pink onions, carrots, toasted pine nuts, and sweet drop peppers tossed in a red wine vinaigrette and garnished with shredded cheddar. The salad was fresh but the red wine vinaigrette was more tart than expected.
The Smoked Turkey Burger consisted of a turkey patty, spinach, pickled onions, and tomato on a toasted sesame bun served with sweet potato fries and cranberry ketchup. The turkey patty was salty and garlicky.
The Grilled Salmon was served over artichoke and spinach nage, yukon Potato, lemon preserve, and kalamata olive relish. Everything was tasty but the salmon was undercooked. I asked for chef's preference but I didn't...
