Let me start with how friendly the staff is at the Hampton Inn first off. I walked into the hotel on 11-08-19 in distress after I was having difficulty finding a hotel in the area with vacancies, due to there was a lacrosse tournament happening in area. I was seeking lodging due to my father was admitted inpatient at Post-Acute Medical facility in Rocky Mount and basically fighting for his life. I live 2 hours away and knew it would be impossible for me to commute back and forth each day. I was provided a brochure by the receptionist at Post-Acute Medical, listing all the local hotels in the area which provide a discount for family members for lodging. After being informed by the Comfort Inn in Rocky Mount, NC, they had one room available, however it was $219.00 a night, because it was the weekend and it is their discretion to raise the price, despite the brochure from the hospital stated 69.00 a night for lodging for families. The comfort Inn staff was rude and refused to honor the 69.00 dollars rate. They further stated they was going to remove their names from the hospital list, so families would not get a discount. I was upset and didn't know what to do. I went to the Hampton Inn and told my story to the front desk representative, Emanuel Shell. Oh, what a relief it was to be able to vent and have someone to care as well as listen not only about my problems with finding lodging, but also everything going on with my sick father. Emanuel stated they were sold out, but requested for me to leave my number and he would contact me if someone calls and cancel. I said to myself, he is not going to call me. Well, not even an hour later, while I was in my father’s hospital room, Emanuel called me and stated he had a room that someone had canceled. I was almost in tears. My family which included my husband, mother and sister as well as myself remained lodging at the hotel from Nov.8th-Decemeber 6th, 2019. We checked out December 6th, 2019 as my father passed away on 12/05/2019. The staff cried with me and showed so much empathy, it was unbelievable. The hotel and the room is clean with flat screen TV. I didn’t just meet a hotel staff, I met new friends that truly went out of their way to ensure our stay was a remarkable one. Please make sure you meet Emanuel when you check in. The maintenance staff member Jamar is the greatest and will ensure you get all you need as well as Mr. Stanly. The front desk staff is extraordinary with people like night staff, Latica Tolibert, DJ, and Ms. Millie Collie. The breakfast and the breakfast staff made a huge impact on my mother that she talked about how extremely nice the staff was towards her. Mr. James, guest supervisor will ensure he take care of any concerns. I am still grieving my father’s death, but you can rest assure my stay at the Hampton Inn in Rocky Mount will always bring great memories that ease the...
Read moreOne of the worst hotel experiences we've had in a long time. On a previous trip the hotel lost power throughout our stay. We had to use the stairs to get to our room. The ac/heater didnt work and certain outlets didnt work including the fridge.
We booked two seperate stays for a volleyball competition at this hotel several months ago and put down 80.00 deposits for each. Last weekend on Friday March 1st we arrived to find out that they had cancelled our room that evening. It was a shock to us because we had called them on Thursday to confirm everything was still good. They never even called us or tried to help us make other arrangements. They told us that they could no longer use the group rate that we previously booked under which was 180 but could offer us the same room at 350. Wow GREEDINESS at its finest. I thought it was their policy to help us find a room, and why wouldnt they give us the original rate? They knew people had to stay in the area for a big tournament and wanted to exploit the situation. Many of the hotels were sold out in the area and we had to drive 20 minutes down the street and stay at a motel. It was around 930pm and down pour raining. We had been working all day then rushed around to get to the hotel. We wanted our daughter to have enough time to settle in so she could get a good nights sleep and be ready to play volleyball.
It's crazy that the HAMPTON INN could care less about its patrons. Especially ones who have stayed there before and put down a deposit. Ones that never complained or asked for anything when the hotel kept losing power on a previous visit. Just kicked us out on the street so they could make almost double our original room rate.
We will never be staying with the HAMPTON INN ever again and I would think twice if I we're you. If they kicked us out on the street for more money they will do it to you as well. It should be illegal especially when you put a deposit down. What happened to decency and honor? The HAMPTON INN and it's employees definitely dont respect...
Read moreWe were traveling from the eastern shore of Virginia in route to our home in Western North Carolina during a tropical storm. In eastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, the internet service is very spotty, consequently, we were having difficulties in accessing the Hilton Honors website to make a hotel reservation for the particular evening. Using Google, we were deferred to a local phone number for this hotel. We telephoned, thinking that we were speaking with the hotel directly and reserved a room for the evening.|However, after arriving at the hotel and checking in, we learned that the local phone number was in effect a third party booking agency, not the number for the hotel. We were advised by the front desk that our reservation was reserved by this third party, not Hilton and not by the hotel itself. The rate charged was roughly 30 percent higher than the published rate. At check-out, we could not be provided with a receipt of payment, rather we were advised that we would have to contact the third party, or wait until they emailed us a receipt copy. The front desk advised us that there were several other individuals who experienced the same issue that we had experienced, that they could help with our complaints and that we would have to contact the third party to resolve any issues.|This was the first time that we have ever stayed at this hotel. The hotel is very tired and needs upgrading. The interior is showing its age.|My recommendation to any traveler is to avoid this hotel when traveling in this region. There are a number of newer competitive hotels in the immediate area that we were made aware of the following morning, and I recommend that competitive review be conducted before staying here.|I will definitely not be returning to...
