In the four years or so that our Rocky Top community discussion has been up, and as an administrator for over three of those years, I have watched the community grow to 5,000+ members - and only ever posted constructive criticism about a local business ONCE until today. And today, it's straight up negative. Sadly, many others on the group seem to be backing it up, too.
But, first and foremost, and as a "too long, didn't read" review - if you are considering stopping by the local McDonalds - I would STRONGLY advise against it.
It should have been a red flag in the beginning to see 10+ cars lined up in the drive thru, some pulled over, and some people walking back inside with their bags - but we circled around and made our order anyways. The lady at the second window was great, and recited our order back perfectly. At the first window, we didn't even get a receipt. Had me a little nervous. I was even more nervous when I had to pull over to get my coffee; waited about 10 minutes, and then was handed my coffee - AND somebody else's food as she walked off.
I then drive about 15 minutes to drop my fiancee off at work before she is late. We then realize; not only did they botch our drinks (unsweetened, watery, etc) - they messed up the wraps AND the mcdoubles; covered both ranch wraps in BBQ sauce and my burgers with onions, mustard leaking out the sides, etc. despite ordering it PLAIN with just BBQ; since I cannot eat onions.
I drove all the way back; this time, there were 16 cars in the drive thru; and even more people pulled over. I figured it would be for the best to just park and walk in and speak to someone personally.
After waiting about 45 minutes with the amount of people inside (around 12:40 now), the lady at the register sees me with my bags, yells "I need a manager", and walks off. --- The manager shows up, appearing less than happy to hear that my order was botched, and that I received the wrong food. She yells to the back "I need two mcdoubles; sweet bbq only. 2 ranch wraps", and throws the two bags of food in the trash.
10-15 minutes later, she returns with a small bag, hands it to me, tells me to have a nice day, and leaves. - No "sorry about all of this today" apology, no excuse like "I'm so sorry, we're so swamped!", no gift of a nasty little apple pie as a token of my extended stay at the Super 8 McDonalds. I wait there for a moment, and another (super sweet girl, seems to be working the register today) - asks what's up. I ask if I can get a sweet tea, since the former was made incorrectly - and I am told that, although she is sorry, i'll have to get back in line and order one that way if I want my sweet tea.
I, livid, just take my food and walk out the door. I hop in the car and rush the food to my fiancee before she has to leave for Johnson City with her boss. As I open the bag; THEY'VE MESSED UP THE MCDOUBLES AGAIN.
All of this today, paired with the incorrect order a few days ago - where, I might add, that they had some blonde person's hair floating in my coffee... I cannot bring myself to come back any more after this. From someone that went there every single morning and night with my call center job for coffee and sandwiches, they have lost a loyal customer that has spent a LOT of money at their establishment.
Do yourselves a favor, and stop by KFC/Taco bell instead. Yeah, they're going to make you pull over and wait 15 minutes for sauce packets or something - but at least you won't turn out this livid and disappointed by...
Read moreWOW! My experience was with a manager named Katlyn. I ordered 2 quarter pounders and a 10 piece chicken nugget. I used the deals on my mobile app getting the 10 piece for a 1$. My code number was 1615. My code went through on my phone and it flashed saying we got your code. When I get to the window to pay she tells me $16.65? I knew this wasn't right and when the girl at window handed me the receipt I seen I was charged $5.19 for the 10 piece nugget instead of just $1.00. Here's where Ms Kaitlyn the manager comes in to play. She asks me to show her my phone so she could see the code went through so I show her my phone and she sees the code did in fact go through but tells me it didn't go through on there end. You think? I know this that's why we had to call you back to begin with. She says she can't give me the 10 piece nugget for a $1 because it didn't go through on there end and it's not their fault? Who's fault is it then because you just seen the code absolutely went through on my phone? Keep in mind I'm still at the first window where you pay. I get frustrated and tell her I want the 10 piece nugget if I get it for a $1 like I was supposed to but if not then just give me my money back. She then really hatefully tells me she will only do that after I give her the 10 piece nugget back! I'm still at the first window and haven't received any food yet at all. Now I'm pissed and ask her what her name is and tell her I'm still at the first window lady and I haven't gotten my 10 piece yet .. just give me my money back already. She then says you don't have to yell, lol well for 1 quit acting like I'm the one that did anything wrong to begin with when it was clearly your all's fault. I sure can't help that your system isn't working properly and that you want people to think they are getting a good deal using the app then you are charging them full price at the window and telling them it isn't your fault. Oh I think Ms Katlyn needs a little bit more brains to be a manager or maybe she should stop smoking so much pot because she sure didn't make a lick of sense tonight and it was clearly their fault. Long story short she finally refunds my money for the 10$ piece back to my credit card after holding the drive through up for 10 minutes. I was a salary manager for 20 years of McDonald's. She clearly didn't know that but will tmro after I reach out to her supervisor. I unfortunately have to deal with this McDonald's frequently and I hope I never have a problem when Ms senseless is on duty again. Please do not let her treat someone else like this and remove her from management...
Read more(Dec 2023) my originally review was posted in April 2023 and then I posted an updated review 2 months later. I have every right to make a review of somewhere I am a paying customer. So for me to get mistreated when I come in there to place an order just because I post a negative review is wrong. There is a female employee there that treats me wrong and is rude to me just because of my post about how I'm treated as a customer there. And when I stayed next door at the motel, I would be in there multiple times a day every day sometimes ... so I have every right just like anybody else that's a paying customer to post a review. Maybe if they would start treating people better people would post more positive reviews. And I would update my review if anything changes. But it doesnt. It's very rare to walk in the door and be greeted, and have someone at the front to take your order. I do not expect to be top priority over anyone else, and I realize that certain days and times they may be a little busier, but I am a paying customer and I am not the only one saying the things that are wrong. I just wanted to be treated with respect, I am always kind when I come in there. It is ILLEGAL AND WRONG to treat someone differently just because they post something negative. You will wait for at least 10 or 15 minutes just to place your order and then you'll stand around waiting on everything to get cold while they get everything together. There's always at least six or seven people working and nobody's ever in a hurry to do anything. You're lucky if they even acknowledge you standing there waiting for your order. They are rude and don't care. (june 2023) here we are again where they can't ever get anyone's order right. Even when it's rang in the right way they still mess it up. I would rather wait a few extra minutes to get it the right way then to get through the line fast and get it made wrong. It never fails, it doesn't matter what it is, they mess it up.
