Eastern Style Pizza — Restaurant in Rogers Park Township

One of my all-time favorites, but it's changed a few things over the years, and I haven't cared for the changes. The pizza, for example. Many years ago, they made a pizza that was the best on the planet. It was a medium thickness (described alternately as either "eastern style" or "Greek style"), and it used a wonderful, spicy sauce. The first change was the sauce. They switched to a sweeter, less-spicy sauce, and the pizza wasn't as good. Then, they changed the style of the pizza entirely, and it became no different than a million other pizzas one could get almost anywhere. But . . . there were still the grinders. Greatest sandwich ever. Combo with garlic, hold the onion. I have dreams about that sandwhich. Unfortunately, they switched from a white American cheese to a mozzarella cheese (something about melting points), and while it's still a great sandwich, it's not quite what it once was. I'll be back the next time I'm in town, but I'll miss what it once was. I guess I don't do well...

A good friend of mine had been raving about this spot for the last couple of weeks so he finally took us out to try it. The restaurant is a good size but had no restrooms; so make sure you use it before you go! Some of the tables were not properly cleaned off so we spent some a little of time finding a clean table. Besides that, the people and the food were AMAZING. I had ordered the chicken monterrey grinder, which is an oven-baked sandwich and WOWW, this was easily one of the best and filling sandwiches that I've had. The sandwich is huge and a great bang for your buck. I also ordered the steak fries which were great with the sandwich. I'm also a pizza head so I had to try their pizza. I ordered a small pepperoni and it was okay. I would definitely just stick with the grinders when...
