Edit to add: after reading the owners' reply: I apologize, your website says you've been in the restaurant business for 40 years (that could have been a fumble finger on my part and put a 6, not a 4), which was my misunderstanding from reading that on the website and thinking that Jake's was around somewhere in the area prior to opening this location.
Friday night 6/6 around 7:20 I arrived at Jake's with one diner sitting in the building. Placed my order - 2 chicken sandwich meals, one sandwich a la carte, a single mac and cheese, and a drink, to go.
First off, no receipt was offered/no receipt paper. However, he did use my phone and took a picture of the screen for me. If the printer was broken, Id be more understanding, but what kind of business runs without a receipt being offered physically, or emailed/text?
The roof was leaking water in the lobby, hopefully not in the back over our food, and the floor - though having signs out, was slick with what felt like grease, not water. This was something I could look beyond, I am just making a comment how dangerous that is.
While waiting on my food, several people came in. I truly believe only 2 people were working, the guy (maybe manager?), and i think the girl was new....could be wrong, but if so, this makes a bit more sense...
The guy came out to tell me there was no slaw and he'd replace it with a different side, thats fine...should have just ordered 3 meals then...but also couldnt tell me this while ordering??
Food comes to the table...2 full meals (with m&c replaced side for both) and a piece of chicken in another box...no sandwich, nothing, just a piece of chicken. And our extra mac and cheese was also missing. The guy there fixed all of that...was very polite.
I suspected the taste would possibly redeem my review. Well, the guy told me the hot damn hot was too hot to finish, but i ordered it anyway. My husband had previously ordered this and said the rub was a real dark color...none of which was a thing for my chicken, or any of them actually (in case they had been mixed up), so i doubt i even got a hot damn hot sandwich (they were all mildly hot)...disappointing. The taste was decent, admittedly...but the fact Im pretty sure I didnt get what I ordered, and the mess that came with the whole experience (first time for me) really lowered my review.
For a business running for 60 years, it may be good to get it in line if you want to keep it going. We all know this is a huge tourist destination, plus it was the end of shareholders week, and a friday night...was not a good time to screw up...
Read moreFirst time ordering from jakes chicken, cant say I'm too pleased with the results, saw an advertisement on Instagram and thought to try it out.
Ordered two Combo #3 ( 5 piece tender / fries and toast ). Food took about 20 minutes to be made, which benefit of the doubt it seemed to be busy, a mad house, and we were ordering to go. The drive through is not operational "yet", so you will have to order inside.
The atmosphere was nothing special, not amazing, not terrible. It's new, so got to start somewhere. The customer service was good, answered my questions and was helpful. However when I received my food I was missing a tender from one of the meals and was given an "I.O.U" for the loss tender (R.I.P tendy "gone but not forgotten"), I was told it would be about 10-15 minutes for me to get a new tender ( just the one ). I didn't have time to wait so I accepted the IOU and went home.
The food was unfortunately disappointing, we first tried the fries which were not seasoned ( like at all, no salt, no pepper, nothing...), they where very similar to five guys style of fries but lacked crisp and where greasy. The chicken tenders were a similar story, as the breading was spicy but had no flavor it tasted like cayenne pepper, chili powder, and flour. I'm sure there were probably other spices but non were present. The chicken tasted off, as if the oil it was cooked in was old and burnt, some of our tenders were even burnt and had a distinct old/burnt oil smell.
I support developing businesses, but there's a lot of quality control and processes that can be improved upon. May try again in the later future. Hope I was able to leave a...
Read moreI've been looking for a good fried chicken place for years with only disappointment to show for it. I think I've tried every single place in northwest Arkansas with fried chicken on the menu at this point but it was never quite right. Finally, this place hit the mark!
The fries were fresh and delicious with just the right amount of seasoning and brought as a free appetizer when dining in. The fried chicken is made to order and is perfectly cooked with crispy skin for that satisfying crunch. They're so juicy you'll need some extra napkins. I'm not a spice person (I have trouble with table pepper) and went for southern and it was perfect! Still flavorful while palatable for a total whimp like me.
The fried pickles were a good ratio of breading to pickle with homade ranch to seal the deal but I'll probably ask them to hold the seasoning salt next time as there was just a bit too much for me but still delicious!
They're still finding their feet with the building which is the only thing that dinged the atmosphere rating but that will work out with time and overall the place has a very rural road country diner feel which everyone knows has the absolute best food! 1000% recommend. I will be a frequent repeat customer and I'm already planning a few trips back with my...
