Best coffee I have ever had
The frappes are amazing. They taste like coffee, not like a milkshake--the coffee, beautifully roasted, balances the sweetness perfectly. The coffee is roasted to match the bean--unlike a certain large chain that thinks over-roasting beans to within an inch of their life somehow equals good coffee and has convinced a generation of coffee-goers that this is what coffee should taste like. Come here and find out what coffee should taste like.
The regular coffee is also fantastic.
Only two places I know of come close or are possibly equal: Ocracoke Coffee in...well, yeah, you guessed it...and Dripolator Cafe in Black Mountain, NC. For comparison, I've had Blue Bottle in Chelsea in NYC, and Coffee Lodge is better. I've been to the original Starbucks in Pike Place (as well as other coffee shops in and around Seattle and Portland), and Coffee Lodge is better.
It's an adorable little lodge/log cabin-like building set off from the otherwise unassuming strip malls of "downtown" Rolesville (don't get me wrong; I like Rolesville and live there--and I know they're working on a "real downtown" plan).
The service is amazing, and they have never, ever gotten an order wrong even though my wife and I have subtly different orders. I almost hate to review this place, because it feels as if I'm giving away a secret, but the secret is out: I can see just by driving by that the Coffee Lodge is attracting more and more customers, and the quality has remained...
Read moreRolesvilles version of Starbucks. I ordered a Mocha frappe, a Caramel Machiatto frappe and a blueberry muffin but the barista got my order wrong and so had the CM as an iced coffee. She offered to blend it but I opted instead to just add a frappe to my order. I don't usually care for iced coffee but I wanted to give both versions a try. True coffee snobs know there's a difference between iced and frappe even if it's the same flavor lol. Like I knew, I preferred the frappe over iced, blended just makes it better in my opinion. The coffee used in the drinks was strong which is good so that the flavor isn't lost as the ice begins to melt. Good caramel flavor and my son enjoyed the mocha. My total was $19 and some change. Barista forgot to give me my muffin. By the time I noticed I was too far away. Don't have plans to be in Rolesville again anytime soon so I said to heck with it. Gave it a 4 bc of the order screw-up and forgotten muffin. If I lived in or closer to Rolesville I would definitely have this place be my...
Read moreI never write reviews but I felt like it was necessary to warn everyone about this place. Me and my family have been regulars for a few years now and we go every weekend. No exaggeration, we experience bad service everytime and our order is always somehow incorrect. Whether it's them marking the drinks incorrectly or making them completely wrong, we always have an issue. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but when my dad asked for a refund after they incorrectly marked and messed up both of our drinks they literally laughed in his face and told him that he couldn't taste the drinks correctly (even though we get the same thing every weekend?) He was offered no refund or for them to remake it, they basically implied he was stupid. If you don't want to pay $8 for an incorrectly made drink, terrible service & a long wait in line I would stay away from this place. I receive better service from the McDonald's employees and I would recommend getting a mocha frappe with a shot of espresso before you choose...
