Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Rome

I want to be able to give Golden Crown a 5/5, but I can't.

I'll start with what went great; the service. The lady at the counter was incredibly friendly. I believe she may have been the owner or at least a manager. She asked if I had been there before, and after telling her it had been a long time she asked what had stopped me from coming in in so long. While some people may be annoyed by this, to me, it said she cares about her restaurant.

I told her that its a bit out of the way compared to where I usually go, and she quickly (and in good humor and fun) snapped back and said "So what! we have people from out of town come to our restaurant!"

I appreciated this level of salesmanship and told her that I'd order from her, but my main concern was getting the same amount of food (or more) for the same money (or less), and of course, if it was at least as good as what I normally order, then this would be my new Chinese take out restaurant.

Well, I got the food, and I'll lead with the best part. It was great food. It was slightly better than what I normally get at the restaurant I normally go to. But the rest is down hill.

First, it cost $12.65, thats $2 more than what I normally pay. Next, its a 26oz box, where as what I normally get is a 32oz box.

But the real reason I am leaving this review (see photo attached) is because I was very upset to find that it was all lightly scooped into the box, and not even filled all the way to the top.

I am very accustomed to my 32oz box (that I get for $10.69) being packed down tight and so full that it is hard to close. I was extremely disappointed, and felt even more so, when I realized that I had been shorted.

Because the food is good, and the lady was so nice, I wish this could be a 5 star review, and I wish this could be my new Chinese Take Out restaurant, but the value is just absolutely not there.

TL;DR - The food is great and the people and service are fantastic, but the value of the food is bad. A lot less food for a bit more money than...

It was lunchtime and I took my 84 year old mom out to eat. We had to wait for a table not that their was any signage that says please wait to be seated. It took 10 minutes when the lady yelled hey ladies come sit! I liked her okay. My mom wasn’t thrilled about her wiping the table with a dirty wet rag. The place was packed, every seat taken, we were in a booth. We both ordered our drinks with the owner. Then a young girl came and took our drink orders again. We both order Mongolian beef wonton soup and it came with an eggroll! Soup was frigid my mom said mine was lukewarm but it tasted good but my mom went on and on about how she wished hers was hot, she has dementia so maybe she forgot how many times she complained about the temperature? She said if our Mongolian beef came out cold she was sending it back! It came out okay, it tasted good but not the best I have ever had. Maybe if the temperature was hotter for me. The egg roll was hot and delicious. Mom was very happy with her meal and that is all that matters to me, well except for cold soup making me have food poisoning. Everyone seemed to love their experience and I did as well. Oh, ** they are short handed but handled it so well I didn’t notice, mom noticed a sign now hiring! So you college kids, get in their and apply! I am sure who ever posted about the owner taking tips was disgruntled...

The lady behind the counter I found to be rude! She asked if we needed anything I answered no thank you then my mom says she needs a knife the lady turned around and says didn't I just ask if you need anything finished showing pictures on her phone before she went and got a knife for my 83 year old mom then when I went to pay she asked if we need a to go cup and was going to charge me for the cup and top I told her no thanks cause mom already has tea she got closer to me it says you're not from around here because it already rained here has known me for 15 years and you obviously do not know me I answered no I'm not she replied I didn't think so I smiled and told her I wouldn't be back and I would be giving her a review on Google she shrugged her shoulders and walked away to go show more of her baby pictures to more promising customers! I'll never go back I thought that was very distasteful for someone...
