LA MICHOACANA TROPICAL — Restaurant in Romeoville

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Never had such horrible experience in any paleteria, ever. Upon entering, I was greeted & asked what I would like, to which I responded "Fresas con crema, chico, porfavor" (strawberries & cream). Young lady said ok then asked what flavor I'd like...I was confused at this point because fresas con crema is only done 1 way. I thought maybe here they make them in different flavors? 🤷‍♀️ So, I said "natural". She then began to prepare the cup then asked me what else I would like & I said granola please. Normally these are topped with toppings of choice. She looked confused & said "no, what other fruit would you like besides the strawberries?", I was completely confused because Fresas con crema is literally that, just the strawberries & cream. I reiterated that it was Fresas con crema what I had ordered. At this point, she was bothered & started giving off an unpleasant attitude. She just kept saying she knew but what other fruit I would like on it or if just the strawberries was all I wanted. Again, I was confused as to why she was asking me for more fruit on an order of Fresas con crema, so I asked her if they made those here because it clearly seemed to be a problem to her. She wouldn't explain anything even after I asked what was the problem? All she kept saying was "umm, yes, its ok" she would look down at the cup completely confused then called over another girl worker & asked her how could she make it work? The other young lady then addressed me & said "oh, it's because you told her you wanted the yogurt" & I said "no, I asked her for Fresas con crema & she asked me what flavor I would like, I didn't know it was made in different flavors so I just said natural. But she keeps asking me what other fruit I would like & I keep telling her it's Fresas con crema, so I don't understand the issue". She then just looked at me in a bothered way & just looked over and whispered amongst themselves. So, once again, I asked "Do you not make them?" & both just answered in a very bothered way "yes, yes, it's ok". I was given what you see in the pictures. From the moment it was given to me to when the whipped cream melted, it was untouched to depict exactly how lacking it was. Never had I been given such a lacking cup. Not only was it not filled with the "crema" (she used yogurt), but it was topped with whipped cream & I have never had them served with that. All paleterias I have been to always fill the cup almost to the hole on the top & never with whipped cream. I understand that some places have their own variations, but this was completely & utterly wrong. Both customer service & product were absolutely horrible. I paid 7.16+ tax for this, amongst other things. My sister in law also received a very lacking elote en vaso. Literally served like half the cup. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of that. Sadly, the most unpleasant experience I've ever had in any paleteria. This was Sunday evening....

Went there this weekend because we didn’t want to drive +20 min to the michoacana in Bolingbrook trying to give this paleteria a second chance. Long story short, the attitude wasn’t the nicest, I ordered an esquimal paleta and instead what I got was a chocolate covered paleta with a couple coconut flakes. An elote that pretty much was half a cup and chetos con queso that had very little cheese. The first time we went there I also ordered a banana split which honestly was a laugh in the face. It had a whole banana the way it’s supposed to be however the three ice cream scoops were literally 1/2 a scoop. The wheap cream it had seemed like it was a line and a couple of sprinkles at the top. I took it because I was trying to be nice, however this second time. Can’t let it pass by. We definitely should had driven the +20 min to Bolingbrook. We are also new to romeoville, so these type of things matter. Never coming back. The product definitely doesn’t not match the pictures within...

If I could give more than five stars, I would!

La Michoacana on Weber Road is absolutely amazing. Every single thing I’ve tried here has been fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care. From their creamy ice cream and refreshing paletas to their perfectly seasoned elotes and mangonadas bursting with flavor — everything is delicious! 😋🍓🍫🌽
