So we went on Father's day to celebrate my husband and him and I went after working a 12 hour shift. It wasn't super busy since it was around 7:40 am but maybe because we are as my husband put it "part of the younger crowd" we got ignored and 2 older gentlemen stepped in front of us and were seated before us by the owner. (I don't personally think we are that young we are mid-30's) We get to our booth and I go to get my napkin and silverware and it's by the sugar and other condiments. Also by that are ants carrying whatever they had found they were going to snack on. We ended up asking to move due to ants, the waitress apologized. The table was wiped down and then someone else sat down there not long after that. Again being fathers day a older gentleman at a neighboring table was told happy fathers day upon sitting down which irked me since my husband wasn't told that, but while we got our check the waitress said "well if you have kids happy fathers day". Again my husband chalked it up to not being "of a certain age" then when leaving and paying a different older gentleman was paying and offered a fathers day mug with his breakfast, which he didn't want. We paid and my husband wasn't even asked if he would like one. Like seriously do you either have to have your entire brood with you or be over 60 for people to assume you are a father? We haven't been to Tasty Waffle in years and after the whole ant thing I almost suggested just leaving but my husband picked it. Also I thought it would be rude to leave after being seated and getting our drinks. While he didn't notice much of these instantly i noticed all these things because I don't think these are really acceptable. If it was Mother's day anyone would be upset. We probably won't go...
Read moreDisappointing experience, unfortunately. We wont be back. Today is my last day in Illinois, so my mother and I decided to go out to breakfast. We gave Tasty Waffle a call at 10:03am this morning to order an apple pancake, because it says to expect to wait 45 minutes for it to be prepared, and being that I have a flight to catch, we figured it would be wise. The man on the phone kindly said that he would get that order put in "right now". We arrived at 10:30, to allow for time for the other order in our group to be put in and come out at the same time as the apple pancake. We got seated by 10:55ish, put in the other order, and got informed that it would still be 20 minutes before the apple pancake was ready. An hour and 20 minutes to make a pancake? Someone obviously dropped the ball on that one, but we smiled anyway and said that was fine. Unfortunately, it was not done in 20 minutes. It was not even done by the time I finished my meal. It was over an hour after we had arrived at the restaurant, and over an hour and a half after we had ordered the pancake, when we asked for it to just be wrapped up, because I had to prepare for my flight. I didn't get to eat at even remotely the same time as my mother during our last meal together for a long time. Coupled with the cashier that didn't even bother smiling.. Thanks so much, Tasty Waffle. We will...
Read moreWow! If I could give this restaurant a less than one star I would. I showed up last week with an elderly client to get a bite to eat. It was seven minutes before 4 o’clock. The owner, I would guess, because no employee would get away with that behavior, met us at the door. He scowled at us and said we are closed. I said well wait a minute it’s not 4 o’clock he looked at his watch and he said we’re closed. And then he gave us the most evil look. No I’m sorry. I hope you’ll come back tomorrow, or oh our kitchen is already closed. We’d love to help you, but I don’t have a chef. Zero, zip, zilch, just a really really bad attitude and a really ugly face. He should start by fixing the gap in his front teeth, the next thing he could consider is an anger management class and then after that he might want to consider some tips on customer service. Clearly cash isn’t their problem. Customer service is!. I wouldn’t eat there if that were the last place on the planet. if that’s how the owner acts to potential customers imagine what else goes on in there. Actually, that’s a good question? What does go on in there if they turn away people and they’re only open for limited hours, hmmmm I wonder. Probably the most unpleasant experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Good job Mr....
