Not sure exactly where to start but this restaurant has some serious customer service issues and that's just one category we were very disappointed in. We ordered online last night to try it out as we saw so many great reviews for the food so we broke from tradition and on my birthday we decided to eat here. All we ordered was a Helen, Cheese Fondue, and the Meatball rigatoni. I received an email stating the food would be ready in about 45 minutes. We left 35 minutes later as it's only up the street from where we live. As we arrive we noticed it's a little corner spot with patrons and appears to be more of a quaint little sit down restaurant and my wife and I thought maybe next time we just come in instead of take out. We stood there for about 2-3 minutes and then guy yells from across the room that he will be with us in a minute. He didn't seem to have anything he was really doing but ok. So finally an older guy comes over and asks us if we have been helped. We told him we were there to pick up our order, and he says he will go check on it. After a few minutes he comes back and says he tried to call us (no record of any missed calls on my phone) and that the rigatoni with meatballs was not available and he wasn't sure how it let us order that online. We don't know either and we definitely know you didn't try calling us to tell us that. Anyways he provided the option for a refund or to make my wife another dish. He mentioned shrimp scampi as the alternative, now the rigatoni was $25 a plate and they didn't even have shrimp scampi on the menu so I was skeptical since usually if they make something good it would be on their menu. So we waited for another 10 minutes and I wish I had taken a picture of what they brought out for $25.... It was literally a small portion of large macaroni noodles, and no more than maybe 6-7 small chunks of shrimp in some greasy sauce that looked totally unseasoned... Gross. I wouldn't feed anything that dish and they should have never tried to replace a main dish like that with something as disappointing as what we received. So I took the container back into the restaurant as we hadn't left the parking lot as I wanted to see first just what they felt was comparable to the $25 we just spent. I found the guy who helped us and just explained that we wanted the refund and the scampi was not acceptable. He said ok and said right after that the refund was already processed. Now to the other food. The pizza was $23 and the cheese fondue was $13. Normally $23 for a pizza isn't crazy, but this was literally the size of a medium if that, and was extremely bare of ingredients. It taste pretty good, but want worth the money at all. I don't eat a lot, and I was able to eat half of this pizza alone without even blinking. The cheese fondue was ok but not memorable. So now today I get up and take a look at my bank account to see if the refund was actually processed, and what do I see? Instead of a refund, I was charged again for that SCAMpi and not actually refunded! I wouldn't dine here again with the lack of customer service, value, and lack of integrity. I will be going back in again to get this straightened out and am not...
Read moreSome may just consider it a small pizza place.......But to those who know, it's actually a portal to Italy. After seeing a few Facebook ads, and a reviewing of Yelp and Google comments, my wife and I finally made it in for a try. We came in before the normal dinner hour, due to a 4:30 pm hole in our schedules... As we walked in, The Flour Dust Pizza Company was getting ramped up for a night of spreading their culinary gifts to the cognoscenti. The manager let out a hearty welcome with a genuine "Happy you're here" tone of voice. As a former restaurant manager, I glanced around and looked for indicators of anything neglected or unclean. None. It looked like a brand new, first-service-ever kind of clean. We sat down with a menu and saw a variety of appetizers, specials, and pizzas I'd expect at a ritzy dinner house in Tuscany... but we were in the end of a strip mall in Roseville.
Our server, Brolin, was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to offer suggestions. We decided on a "Whip and Char" appetizer that featured whipped ricotta cheese, EVOO, and fire roasted tomatoes accompanied by their pizza dough cut into squares. The whipped ricotta was nice and cool, the tomatoes popped with sweetness, and the Olive oil blended the two beautifully on the bread, which was light as air with a slight saltiness and hint of char. WOW! This place thinks about their food! We ordered a Helena pizza to share. The dough was thin crust, which was strong enough to support the pie, but dissapeared mysteriously after a slight snap with the teeth. Seriously, I've only experienced this Gluten Cirque de Soleil move while previously in Italy. The sauce, the sausage, the pepperoni, salami and pepperoncini peppers all had distinctive flavors that made me forget about adding cheese, peppers, salt or black pepper from the table. (Albeit, there weren't any of those on the table due to COVID-19, but they would have gone untouched had they been there). Seriously, the Flour Dust Pizza Co gives a lot of thought to their product. DELICIOSO!
Brolin checked on us at least 5 times during our meal, bringing refills on our sodas without us asking. The crew cares about their guests.
They've earned a rare 5 stars from both of us and we are so happy they are in our area of Roseville. No passports are required for this amazing Tuscany level meal. Bravo!...
Read moreI enjoyed the pizza dough texture and flavor found at the perimeter of the pie, but the overall pizza fell flat. I ordered mushrooms, pineapple, basil, and spinach. Plus I replaced the standard cheese with vegan cheese ($3.00 extra to replace; Ok, it does cost more, but really?. To be clear, I'm not Vegan, but I am trying new avenues. The building of this pizza cost $22.00; I understand prices have gone up, however, there also appears to be a double down on the amount of toppings. One piece had 1 slice of mushroom. That would be ok if the remainder was aptly presented, but no. In all, I found the toppings fell short across the board. Below that is a 1/8 inch thick pizza crust holding barely enough sauce to provide compliment. The only flavor I truly landed was the vegan cheese, which in itself does not compare to the real thing. Not their fault. There were four of us for dinner. The one true vegan seemed ok overall. She had no cheese. The other two seemed meh about theirs. 5 out of 10 was the vote from them. Not that it was bad, but just not enough to bring us back. It was $91.00 for 4 with a 15% tip. Service; I tip unless service is horrible. Service matched the food. Food all came correct, which is always a win, but water empty too long too many times. That's a no no for bread based food. Once we were done, I grew immensely uncomfortable in the steel chairs outside waiting to pay. That said, it was nice to sit outside under the umbrellas. Take away: it's a no for me. I'm happy to see others enjoying this place. Perhaps I just didn't get their best, but I know i can get a lot more for nearly $100 at other local...
