Let me start off by saying how excited I was to have this place open. Sisters Thai is yet another eatery that has opened in the Raley One shopping center and I’m very happy to see the growth in our area for dining and shopping options.
So let’s get to it, Sisters Thai is adjacent to the Wax Center and is, of course, brand new with fresh paint, decor, and eating area. That being said, it’s a bit plain and somewhat doesn’t match the Thai motif. It’s not bad, just different than expected.
The ordering here is different and it took a second to understand the process. All orders are taken when you walk in, where you also pay for your complete order. You can then take a seat in the dining area with a card that has your order number. I would recommend coming in prepared to order rather than trying to order at the time of entry… especially if you have a larger group.
Now to the food… we ordered the fresh rolls, Thai Basil Fried Rice with chicken, and Yellow Chicken Curry. The fresh rolls were made with lettuce, carrots, tofu, and shrimp. They are served with a side of peanut sauce that was tasty and thick to get lots of the sauce on your roll. However, the rolls were mostly lettuce and didn’t have much else in them. Each roll only has one shrimp (no biggie there), but the tofu didn’t always get in each roll and there is far more lettuce then necessary. I’d would have liked to see maybe some cucumber, more carrots, glass noodles, or something else to offset the lettuce. Still good, but some slight changes I think would make these perfect.
Now, I’m personally a big fan of Thai Basil Fried Rice and this didn’t disappoint. Lots of flavor, crispy veggies, decent spice (I ordered a level 3, but will order a 4 next time), and delicious chicken. I would compare this with my all-time favorite Thai Paradise in Folsom, with Thai Paradise slightly edging them out. However, it was really good.
The yellow curry was also delicious, served with a generous helping of white rice, the curry was flavorful and full of goodies (potato, carrot, chicken, etc). Again, the spice level was 3, and was ok, but I would get a spicier level next time.
Overall, I was impressed by this new eatery and I’m excited to return. Admittedly, their service wasn’t the best, but it may just be growing pains and their method of ordering/serving. Either way, I would recommend trying Sisters Thai for a good Thai experience that’s in our...
Read moreIt has been a while since my wife and I had Thai food. I had previously lived in San Francisco and had been to many Thai restaurants there. We decided to try Sisters Thai Kitchen for lunch.
Upon entering, there was no host/hostess, just an order taker/cashier who also does double work as a server. I quickly realized that you are supposed to take a menu, order your food, and pay before taking a seat at a table in the dining area. This was our first time here and we were not familiar with the menu or what we wanted to eat, so we grabbed a couple of menus and sat at a table in the dining area to go over the menu items. Maybe a bench seat or a couple of chairs near the front entrance would be helpful.
Ordering was simple and easy. Google Pay is accepted. The thing I felt awkward about was tipping before we got any service or food. The tip was shown on a transaction pad and I had to choose a percentage of the tip or nothing at all. Of course, I can always leave a tip after I finish dining. But if I don't prepay the tip, I will feel awkward about what they will think. For this reason, I will minus one star.
Our appetizer came first, like it should, followed shortly by our two main dishes. All food items came promptly, although, I must say the restaurant was only a quarter full at the time.
The Thai food here was delicious. Some of the best Thai food I ever had. The ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. The portions of food were about right. We usually always have leftovers to take home when we dine out, but not this time. Shucks! LOL
The decor inside is unlike many of the typical Thai restaurants I have been to in the past. This restaurant was bright and had a contemporary look and we liked it.
We are happy to have this Thai restaurant in Roseville and we will...
Read moreThey literally lost a loyal customer. They messed up my order a lot but I understand that sometimes things get messed up but treating and favoring customers differently is where I draw the line. One day I ordered the kaprow kai dow (the chopped chicken with egg) and they messed up and gave me the one without egg again (yes this has happened before where they charged me for the chopped chicken and did NOT include the egg). I paid for the dish with egg and although I did not complain to them that they charged me the higher price, I didn’t mind. Anyways, so I went in again and ordered the same dish and they messed up and gave me the dish without the egg and I corrected them. They apologized. I wasn’t rude or anything as they were nice but then they came back and said I owe $1 and some change because they messed up my order. Really? Ok so I paid the difference and went about my way. Fast forward to tonight, I ordered dinner for my family and asked for extra white rice with my dinner entrees. I made sure to repeat my order three times with the person. Well, guess what? They forgot the extra white rice and when I asked them about it, they said sorry they forgot to charge me for it and asked for the $2 and some change for it. Ok fine, I’ll look past their mistake AGAIN but what got me upset was a guy who ordered Togo and they gave him extra rice and said out loud “oh it’s ok, don’t worry about it”. WTH. So they charge me but not him? What kind of BS is that? I am big on supporting small businesses but when you treat and charge customers differently, I will never...
