So I ordered the Chicken with Cashew dish, on a bed of white rice. Asked the "clerk" if it came with breast meat. She said "no", but that she'd add it for no extra charge. I was sold, and proceeded to give my order. The service was relatively prompt as she soon returned with the order within the 10 minutes she stated. My issue: something in the food tasted stale. Not a good sign on the 1st visit. And the side vegetable roll was quite oily. Not sure if it was just the nature of the cuisine, but I ate only 1/2. Plus, there was a table you come pass if you went towards the rear area. It had a bunch of fliers and other papers arranged kinda messy on top of it. Overall, maybe a decent spot to go to for Cantonese, szechuan or hunan (on the business card) if they keep it fresh.

This place has had the best Chinese food in Crown Point for a generation, but I always wished I could ask for extra spicy and actually get it. Today they followed through, and I was blown away. To be fair, I asked in my online order for "uncomfortably spicy" in hopes that they would notice l. They did, and it was amazing! (and uncomfortable, in the best way!)

Food was very good, hot and fresh surprising me with vegetables in the rice. The shrimps are huge! My family enjoyed their meal from Uncle Chen Hot Wok, a chinese restaurant we decided to try other than the norm Panda Express. Sorry not the best pic, but hey, we were enjoying our meal forgetting the "before meal" pic.

I stepped in this joint with my girlfriend to place an order to-go. We ordered two Roast Pork Egg Rolls, a Chicken Rice Soup (Pt), Sesame Chicken (Qt) that included White Rice, and Beef Fried Rice (Qt). He said it would be about ten minutes. We sat down and waited for the food, since it was going to be quick, and what do you know, it takes about five minutes! This place is super fast! I was amazed and pleased at the same time, as I was almost hunched over in hunger.

We ended up pulling over down the road to eat our feast. We just really couldn’t wait any longer. The Roast Pork Egg Roll was alright. It wasn’t too special. I wouldn’t want to eat another. The Chicken Rice Soup was really good. They definitely didn’t cheap out on the rice! The Sesame Chicken was awesome! The sauce made the Chicken for me! I’m glad I chose that specific Chicken. The White Rice was good and even better with the Sesame Chicken’s Sauce poured over it. The Beef Fried Rice was decent for the most part. The Beef was cooked right. I just hated how there were peas and carrots. The Rice was fried nicely. The portion size was pretty dang big it seemed. It came in a unique box.

The service was good. We weren’t rushed and he told us when our order was ready.

Overall, I really liked this place. It’s a bit of a drive from me, but on certain days, I think I’ll be craving that...

Second update: I've been coming here for 20 years and sadly I'll be choosing elsewhere for Asian cuisine. Not sure when it took effect but they are now cash only. That, coupled with a steady decline in food quality is really disappointing.

Update to original: still consistently great food but they've made a few changes over the last year that make me go less often. The pork fried rice recipe has definitely changed. I much preferred the full flavor version instead of this "cleaner" recipe. Also it's not the standard side in a combo any longer. I dislike forgetting to upgrade to pork fried. A few combo options that I regularly ordered are no longer available as a combo too. Lost a star and some frequency, but didn't lose a customer.

Original 5 stars: This place is great. The pork fried rice, fried dumplings, and egg rolls are always top notch. Been going here several times a month over the past decade and they've never messed up an order. Quick, delicious,...

Nice staff at the restaurant. Very friendly. However one of the worst Chinese restaurants of many bad ones in Northwest Indiana. To start with, the fried rice is terrible, resembles the texture of Rice a Roni - not really Chinese fried rice and without significant added ingredients. Next, what is with the meat they serve? The chicken and beef do not have the texture of real meat. It’s terrible. What is it. Had the Mongolian beef. Ninety percent of the dish was fried onions. The meat was bad mystery meat. And the egg roles, nothing but cabbage filing in them. Of all the Chinese restauants in the area, China House in Valparaiso is the best and most authentic. And even they don’t compare favorably to the better ones in China Town in Chicago. My advice to these Chinese Restauranteurs in the area, is to start using better and more expensive ingredients, and produce better authentic quality. People will come and will be willing to pay more for...
