We were SO very disapointed with the Round Rock Río Grande. We frequent the Pflugerville location very often, and maybe it's so good that it really hurt our impression of the Round Rock location...
Husband and I came in on Sunday evening right after 7pm with my two sleeping infants and two year old. The restaurant was empty, maybe 4 other tables total, so we were seated immediately and someone brought us chips and salsa. Our waitress then came, we asked for two margaritas and queso, and waters. She forgot water for my son. When she came back with the water, she brought the queso asked if we were ready, which we were because we had decided to get the same thing we do everytime at the Pflugerville location. I ordered steak fajitas rancheras, and my husband steak chimichanga. She didn't ask about our son, but I guess she assumed she wasn't eating, maybe that's why she didn't bring his water or a menu or anything...either way it didn't matter because my son usually is fine eating from our plates. After taking the order she quickly walked away. Our chips and salsa were empty and we were trying to flag our waitress down, but she never appeared...until our food came out. Because we had not been able to eat our queso (with no chips) my husband asked if we could have the queso microwaved and for more chips and salsa. She told us the plates were very hot, asked if we wanted tortillas (I responded no) and walked off with our queso. The plates were warm and the food was also just warm...I didn't feel like asking for our food to also be microwaved so I decided just to eat it.Then I looked at my food and realized that I hadn't received the tortillas that my food comes with (for the fajitas) so I was to flag her down again, so I could eat more than my rice and beans. Maybe when she was asking about tortillas, she was asking for only me, and not our family. Either way, to me, it seems strange to ask someone if they want something from their plate that it normally comes with. I feel it's a little like ordering a hamburger and then asking if you wanted hamburger buns or something?...The queso came back a few minutes later, was sat down, and out waitress turned right back around. No checking in on us or our food. And not even allowing me a second to get in that I NEEDED tortillas to eat the fajitas. My food was getting colder but I finished the rice and beans. After a few more minutes she appears out of the back and I have to flag her for tortillas. She goes to the back but come out without tortillas, and starts cleaning tables. a different waitress passed by and I flagged her down, stating that maybe our waitress forgot the tortillas. My husband then told me he was going to ask for a menu. I asked why-He showed me he got ground beef (asked for steak) and there was no sauce on top of the chimi. Every time we go to the Pflugerville location, he orders a steak chimi, it comes out with steak, and with a sauce on top. Our waitress still had not shown so I decided to go grab a menu myself. Upon examination of the menu there are two types of chimichangas. It appears that our waitress put in an order for a regular chimichanga and not the delux chimi. The thing is their regular chimichanga option doesn't allow for steak, only the delux. Husb said he was just going to be fine without the sauce and use our queso instead. At this point, I suggested we find the manager and just let them know how our night was going...thinking maybe some of this could be corrected, or even just thought this would be valuable info for the manager. So, my husband took our son, walked to the back and discreetly told the manager-again our point wasn't to embarrass anyone. Maybe our waitress was new or was doing something more important in the back than waiting tables. While my husband was gone, our waitress dropped the check, took my husbands (unfinished plate) and kept walking...no asking if we were finished or wanted anything else. husband came back, said the manager told him, "thank you" and smiled at him. That's it. We will NEVER be back with this...
Read moreFirst time back in about 6 years due to Horrible service. Father in laws birthday dinner and he likes that place for some reason. All was well until I (43 yo Dad) ordered my 20 yo (who is 21 in Nov) a beer which is perfectly legal in Texas. Karina our server ask for Id from my son his mother and I showed ours and he showed his. All addresses match all legal and going above and beyond anything we have to do at other RR restaurants. When she informed us that she just took a tabc class and is not allowed to do so. I asked for the manager. The manager came over said she knew the law and it was restaurant policy that they could not serve my son the beer. (Which is not posted anywhere at all in the restaurant) so I let Karina know that it’s gonna hard for me to leave a good tip with this issue to which she replied that “I(Karina) make $4000.00 a month and don’t need your $4 to $6 dollar tip”. So we didn’t let this keep us from having a 77th birthday celebration for my father in law. Long story short. Horrible food horrible service...
Read moreNo way. The food was very bland. Had no "pop" to it when you bite into it.
Came here for a family dinner after a graduation. I wasn't impressed. Food temp was warm to cool. And i said earlier, my meal was very bland. Even the charro beans were not good. Then the drinks. Very watery. Not done well. I had a piña colada cocktail.
And im all about environment and atmosphere as well. I don't like florescent lighting. It just didn't give off a restaurant vibe. I feel like I'm eating inside a retail store. I feel the place could use a face-lift. Put a new coat of paint on the wall and change the carpet. It just look dumpy to me.
I didn't give a 1-star because the staff's efforts was there. They were friendly and doing their best to be good host. Can't knock them for that.
Overall, i don't recommend this place. There are other places out there that have better food and...
