My husband and I visited this restaurant recently, and is one we have at eaten at many times because we know the food will be good. This review will be based on the restaurant's "service" only.
As we approached the front doors of the establishment, the outside’s appearance was clean and maintained. We gave it 3 out of 5 stars, because although it met our expectations, the outside did not “wow” us. It was clean and maintained with a small outside area that looks under utilized. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a hostess who was not very inviting. She did provide the minimal attention and sat us at our table with two menus, but she just wasn’t very friendly. I believe first impressions are very important and the young lady who seated us at our table gets 2 out of 5 stars. She asked how many were in our party, grabbed two menus and said “Follow me.” There were no friendly smiles, she barely made eye contact and then turned her back on us summoning us to follow her. I think your hostess can really set the tone for the start of your dining experience.
We had an excellent server who was very familiar with the menu and didn’t even have to write anything down. Our drinks from the bar came quickly and the chips and salsa were kept full. We looked at the server staff’s uniforms and I thought they looked a little casual and unkempt, but they all had black pants and various colored t-shirts promoting this restaurant. In my humble opinion, I think matching shirts would look far better in appearance.
We did notice management was present and at times out on the floor. They may have had an over abundance of staff, but it was early on a Friday night and I’m sure they were just preparing for the rush. We had a great evening and had I not been doing this review, I don’t think I would have noticed anything I scored average or below average - other than that uninviting hostess who had zero personality!
The food here is very good and you really can’t go wrong. If the food was not tasty or too my standards, I would not return here. However, the overall service was good and although my review's topics average just below 3.5 stars, I’d give it a 4 stars out of 5.
My conclusion is an unfriendly hostess who DID seat us in our desired section and uniforms that are practical but just not above-average in appearance, shouldn’t give the overall service a low score. I thought the service from our server was very good and I think that counts for quite...
Read moreWent here for dinner for the 1 st time thinking it looked like a decent place good reviews and all.My husband ordered the Carne Asada bc that’s a typical favorite for Mexican dish and I the chicken spinach enchiladas which were actually kinda yuck ? And I usually love getting enchiladas from most Mexican restaurants. But no the cheese sauce was bland and it actually didn’t even match the right texture for the enchilada it was like eating mayonnaise on a flour tortilla with burnt chicken that tasted like charcoal. It was very disappointing. The only thing I thought was half way decent was the rice . The food looks sloppy on your plate when the deliver it to the table but the taste of the food leaves you wondering how I’d the place even a Mexican restaurant?? I’m not usually one to question Mexican in Texas but today I did! - my kids ordered chicken and fries which they hardly touched and thank God!! because with in 15 minutes of leaving the restaurant my husband starts feeling really nauseous and sick ! We get home and I see him lying on the couch like a sick dog snd he just could stop throwing up!! It was such bad food poisoning I’m having to cancel our plans for the weekend bc he’s so unwell. I don’t really like writing unpleasant reviews about restaurants but this left and fairly negative impression on us for Mexican food . I’d like to prevent anyone else from encountering BAD Experience And FooD Poisoning from...
Read moreHere's the deal this place is ok just ok at its best. I have been coming here for years and it isn't the quality it used to be. The food is mediocre but edible. Presentation is way down.
Here is the break down of these two plates. The pork carnitas were dry as if they have been sitting around, but not long enough to become funky like pork does when it gets old. Beans were tasty, but little under cooked making them pop and gritty when chewed. The rice was very dry as if it has been sitting a while, surprising, because of the amount of traffic. You can look at my photos and kind of get an idea of what I'm talking about.
The Carne Asada was chewy. Wasn't impressed by its flavor again mediocre. Beans and rice where the same as above. The asada plate came with an enchilada of choice. We choose the cheese enchilada. It appeared to be served up with Hormal Chilli on top. Definitely not freshly made and came from a container of some kind.
The tortilla are probably the highlight of this experience. I could slam a pack with butter. Very fresh very tasty.
Sadly over all it seems they have gone to a quality that resembles TV dinners. Honestly I believe I have eaten my last meal from here. Very disheartening as long as they have been...
