This place was the best!!!!!! I found them through Instagram. The decor was so cool and I loved the cyber-retro vibe. Everywhere you looked the place had a neat theme. The waitstaff was so helpful and was able to consistently check if we needed new grills. We paid 17$ for the kids and I think around 23$ for adults, with that we ordered 4 rounds of meat, almost all of the kitchen sides. We tried: the thinly sliced beef (6/10, cooked quickly kinda taking away some of the flavor but still had amazing consistency) Beef Bulgogi (10/10, took a second to cook as expected but was so flavorful, even my grandmother liked it who isn’t a fan of Asian food) Spicy Pork Bulgogi (10/10, same as beef bulgogi and the spice was low but still had a nice added flavor) Marinated Pork ribs (8/10, were hard to cook considering they were ribs going against a metal grill, were easy to get the meat off but could’ve used more marinade) Cinnamon Pineapple (10/10!!! Loved the concept of this and it tasted so good! I recommend ordering it with the pork ribs, they work together to make a savory and sweet flavor) -Seasonal Vegetables (8/10, the bell papers could’ve had the white parts on the inside cut out before, and could’ve used more zucchini since those are the easiest to grill) Spicy tofu soup (10/10, everyone in my family loved this and I loved dipping the cooked meat in it for extra flavor or poring the extra broth over the rice) Rice (9/10, basic white rice and fell apart a lot when trying to eat with chopped sticks but was still a good staple) -Banchan (10/10, I forgot the name of them but they were these square white dumpling-like wrappers, but those were amazing wish we had more for sure! If we did it definitely would’ve more like an 11/10 lol) French fries (5/10, were too salty and dry but it was American food so I did not expect much since this place’s specialty was KBBQ) -Cutlery (8/10, the bowls looked cute but, the spoons could’ve been a bit steeper to help scoop items, and to be given extra bowls for the tofu soup would’ve been helpful)
Overall this place was like a 9.99999/10, I am so happy I found this place to celebrate my birthday it was the right decision to pick this restaurant. For only being open for barely 3 months now this place got so many things right and had such a wow factor with the decor and prices!! So affordable to help pay for a party of 9 considering what we ordered compared to many other places I have been to before. I hope this restaurant grows to have the attention it deserves and keeps its unique...
Read moreFirst of all, I'm a self proclaimed kbbq addict. I have feasted on various types of kbbq - ranging from the old school, budget friendly $12 AYCE specials of the early 2010's, to incredibly luxurious, Michelin earning COTE kbbq in Miami. 88Q stacks up right in the middle.
Let's say you're in the mood for AYCE, but desiring higher quality cuts of meat, impeccable service, and AYCE a la carte dishes from the kitchen ranging from spicy tofu soup, soft steamed egg, to my personal favorite, kimchi fried rice...then this is your new go-to.
I finally visited 88Q last night with a friend. For a table for 2 on a Thursday evening around 8PM, we had a wait of about 20-25 minutes. Parking is extremely limited as it is a relatively small shopping plaza.
Once we were seated, the variety of banchan was already waiting for us. Kimchi, radish paper, rice paper, bean sprouts, macaroni salad, and a fresh salad was awaiting us. They have 3 different menu options, A, B, and C. A is the most basic, B has some higher quality meats like pork jowel, beef tongue, galbi, and C has rib eye as well as other lux meat cuts. We opted for menu B, which includes their highly touted fried rice.
We ordered several rounds of the regular beef brisket, the beef tongue, spicy beef brisket, sirloin, pork belly - just to give you an idea. For sides, in addition to the kimchi fried rice, we tried their spicy tofu soup.
The meat quality is 10/10, and importantly, they are quick with service. My pet peeve is when we're out of meat and the server is nowhere to be found - this certainly wasn't the case last night. We dipped our meat in their wasabi salt, and WOOOOOOOW, paired with a crunchy, refreshingly cool radish paper, slice of kimchi, who said the perfect bite doesn't exist.
They also offer ice cream at the end of the meal, vanilla soft serve with either caramel or brown sugar drizzle. I went with the brown sugar, and despite my stomach shouting for help after we feasted on the meats, the ice cream was delicious and paired perfectly to end the meal.
If I'm ever in the area again and craving some korean bbq, 88Q has just earned my...
Read moreHonestly food is great, atmosphere is very good, but service is terrible. We had a Sunday lunch on 6/29 there for my family members’ birthday. We have 11 ppl. Me n my wife was there about 15 mins early ard 11:45am, and the manager let us seat at our table to wait for others. Our issue is with our waitress, i don’t know her name, but i think the only waitress there. Everyone else there that was helping out on our table was great. However, our waitress from the get go she start have attitude issues. Once we sat down, she came over and ask us if would like to start eating, we said we want to start around 12 as we were waiting for our other family members who will be coming in around 12. She turn around without saying anything and went straight to her Manager and started saying something to him, which we find pretty rude and odd already. My wife has a mug with hot water half filled, as she only drinks hot water and asked another waiter if he can fill it with hot water which that waiter did right away. 5 mins later she came over and asked my wife to take that hot water outside as they don’t allow outside drink, we explained its hot water and the other waiter even help us fill it, she insisted we need to take it outside.. Then the entire lunch she controlled the flame and the the flame was either too weak and when we asked her to check on the flame, then she turn up to the max and the food burned and she came over to change the rack every 5 mins. You can imagine how bad the grill food was. Then every time she came to change the rack, she pull the rack up and waiting for me to move the food from old rack to the new one. Where all other tables we see the waiters move the food for the other customers as well. The entire lunch her tone was plain and she was filled with attitude. We started eating at 12 and the restaurant policy allowed 1.5 hours all you can eat. She came at 1:18 pm and said last call???? Finally, the restaurant required 20% service charge for 7 ppl or more.. 20% of this kind of service.. it...
