First time at Papichulo Tacos Royal Palm and Iām more than elated that I decided to drop in. My girlfriend and I, who arenāt native to Florida, were craving tacos and decided to give this place a shot.
First Impression;
When you walk in, you can tell that a lot of thought was put into the design of the establishment. The blues and whites of this āBajaā feeling vibe perfectly correspond with the nostalgia of the background music to give you this feeling of āyeah, Iām about to have a good timeā.
We sat down, and the bartender Nelli greeted us immediately. Feeling more than welcome by her demeanor, Nelli, my girlfriend, and I started talking as if weāve known each other for years.
As my girlfriend is quick to choose from the menu, I myself can be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to making a drink choice. Without hesitation Nelli helped me pick between one of two drinks and Iām glad she did as her recommendation hit. The Mango Tango might be inarguably the best drink on the menu. But take this with a grain of salt (no margarita glass rim intended) as I went on to have about three of them barely giving another drink on the menu a chance because they were so good. My girlfriend got the iced Mexican coffee and was completely in love. She also had the Watermelon Marg which was also off the hook.
Before long;
Weāre greeted by the manager Steph. I want to start by saying that any person who goes out to eat in a place with multiple locations generally has an expectation of what the service is like. Generally speaking, the more locations, the less likely the staff is to care. This was nowhere near the case.
Steph checked on us multiple times in order to make sure that we not only were having a good time, but that everything we ordered was enjoyed. Which is a breath of fresh air in the service industry these days.
Noting that I was on a spice kick, she even came over with their hottest salsa (that I must have over looked on the menu) and handed it to us. To my delight, the salsa was hot enough to make me cry.
On top of all of this, she was loaded with recommendations which my girlfriend and I utilized without question. Specifically the Al Pastor and Birria tacos. Which we might not have ordered without Stephās recommendation.
Lastly, I want to give a shout out to Mimi, the bartender who followed Nelli and was just as lovely. Considering how fast the bar and restaurant got busy, it was impressive to see how well she handled the rush while keeping on a smile, tending to her the customers at the bar, and was more than optimal.
Papichulo Tacos Royal Palm is a finely tuned machine. Under what must be great management and employment choices as far as staff is concerned.
I without a doubt will be returning.
P.S. I even bought...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe've been here many times and tonight will most likely be our last. Went as a party of 7. There was a 15 minute wait which wasn't bad considering it was a Saturday evening. We sat outside on the large picnic table which was fine by us. Our server probably took 10 minutes to greet us which can be understandable if someone is in the weeds on a Saturday night, which I'm beginning to think she was, due to her serving capabilities. When our server asked for our drink order my father in law asked what kind of bourbon they carried to which she replied "oh jeez, you got me with the bourbon", because she couldn't even name 1 that they carry; however, still not a big deal. Then we order apps and after another realistically 10-15 minutes of waiting for drinks, they arrive. Food was, good so no issues there. Then when it was time for dinner, the food came out but we were left with no plates or utensils. My wife had to go inside and come back with plates and napkins for us being as our server obviously had no intention to. She did come out halfway through to ask how everything was, which is the only positive mark she had. After she dropped the check, it was another 10 minutes, and she's nowhere to be found. I go back inside and ask her to run the cards. My main issue here is that the restaurant automatically includes a 20% tip for parties of 6 or more. Typically, I support this happening because I was in the business for many years, and my wife still is; however, in this case, please tell me how she deserved 20%? We had to do half of her job. I believe she knows she's guaranteed 20%, so she has no care about the service she provides because she knows what she'll make regardless. This is becoming crazy. Everyone is aware that due to the economy, costs have gone up and service has gone down but ffs, don't include a mandatory tip if your staff...
