We will not be going back to this restaurant again! The service was terrible! About a month ago when my Wife and I went for the first time. The service and food was great then. But this time was totally different! Manager and waiter were both rude and unprofessional! Pineapple margaritas that my wife and I ordered were the worst margaritas we ever had! Taste like old dishwater and hot sauce! It was disgusting!! When we tried to order two more different drinks, the sorry waiter refused to take our order for two more drinks! He said they were only serving those sorry pineapple margaritas! But there was a sign at the entrance that clearly said they were serving different types of margaritas on special! Clearly this trifling waiter didn’t bother to read this sign! We were there for 45 minutes before this sorry waiter took our food order! Yet they served other tables with White customers who came in after us!! By now my wife had enough of this blatant racism!! We paid for those rotten drinks that we only took one sip out of and left! I was talking to another Black customer before we left. I told her how lousy the service was! She showed more concern and sympathy for our situation than that sorry manager did! That sorry manager didn’t do one blasted thing to make the situation right! Clearly he lacks customer service training! My Wife and I ended up having a wonderful dinner at El Jarrito in Ruston! The food, customer service, and drinks were A+ wonderful! We will definitely go back to El Jarrito again. But we will never ever go back to Gonzales...

Excellent queso blanco, smooth slightly sweet salsa without any chunks of pico, yummy fajita burritos, & 6pc steak quesadillas are tasty. Large menu variety. Meat marinaded perfectly. Creamy simple fresh guacamole.

1st visit: Tues pm - Seated right away. Ordered quickly & got dinner promptly. Service was great until the end when the waitress brought our check & I asked her for a box, she said ok then disappeared ... so maybe 10 minutes later we asked another waitress nearby for a box & confirmed that we pay at the front desk (this wasn't mentioned, it was our 1st time, & they haven't even been open long).

2nd visit: Service was very slow, but they were also very busy on a Wed pm (Ash Wed). 10 mins to be seated, got chips & salsa right away, 15 mins to place order, then at least 45 mins until we got our meals! (Thankfully we got queso and salsa, but we were starving by 8pm!) The band playing had a great guitarist & they played a variety of songs.

3rd visit: Sat pm = moderately busy, but saw at least 4-5 tables open. Was told there would be a 15-20 minute wait = we were a bit confused. (Plenty of waitstaff apparent.) So instead, we got seated at the bar quickly- got chips and drinks then ordered right away, then waited ~30 minutes for food. (Maybe they need more cooks? They should be more prepared on a weekend.) Bar service was good. But, apparently they can't figure out how to make non-sweetened tea though, as both cups she tried bringing...

Been here at least 6 or 7 times, You never know how the food or the service is going to be. One time the service was subpar but the food was great. So I returned and ordered that same GREAT dish and it was terrible. The beef was chewy and nearly uneatible and the spice on the Bistec Beef was way overboard. I just don't understand how the First time the beef was great normal texture and Great bistec balance of flavor and spices. I order the same thing and its terrible. But the service was better. The service depends on how busy they are and how confused the servers are about who's table is who's and if they are not too busy playin around vs being a server to customers. If they would standardize their dishes to be the same EACH time ordered and kept service average it would be much better. I could at least go to have a favorite dish. But you never know if the meat has changed or the cooking procedure or what. Maybe...
