Rutherford Thai — Restaurant in Rutherfordton

Well, there is a lot to say. We chose this restaurant for our Valentine's dinner yesterday because of the reviews we read. Big mistake!! THIS IS A HOLE IN THE WALL!! When we entered, we saw a table with a reserved sign on it, however it was full of dirty dishes, from the previous diners. A young man in the back of the room said "sit wherever you like". We had the reservation. Sat at the dirty table, not real excited. He came over and cleared it after about 5 minutes of us sitting there. He was the ONLY SERVER for the entire place. There were 8 tables full with diners. We did see other dirty tables with dirty dishes too. After table was cleaned, he asked us for our order. We did not have any silverware or napkins. The food came one dish at a time, not very hot. The lady bringing the food did not speak English. Did not even make eye contact with us. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. By the time all our food arrived, the previous dishes were COLD. Food was OK, not the best, and not the worst. But we never saw the server again. He forgot to bring my Thai iced tea. O well, I drank water. When we were done eating, he never came over with the check. He did not even look our way. We waited and waited. After 30 minutes, we got up and went to the counter in the back to pay and I wanted a to-go box. THE WORST SERVICE EVER. Also, folks, the place is OLD AND DIRTY. The seats in the booths are so bad that they are FLAT, no padding in the cushions any longer. The windows were filthy, you could not even look out. Obviously they don't bother washing windows. We did not dare go to the restrooms....We did not see the NC inspection grade poster either. I do not think I would want to see the kitchen. We have owned a restaurant in the past, and you have to stay of top of cleaning and providing good service. This is the WORST RESTAURANT IN RUTHERFORDTON. I hope other people post accurate reviews...

So far my favorite restaurant in the area and the best Thai I have ever experienced. Let me first start with the restaurant, this place is absolutely charming. Small and quaint with well appointed Thai decor. Very comfortable seating. The service was quick and friendly.

We started with a couple of appetizers. The Garden Roll and Curry Puffs. Both were amazing. The Garden rolls are full of fresh vegetables and come with two sauces, a peanut sauce and a sweet chili sauce. Both if these were amazing! The curry puffs tasted like Indian Samosas, and were AMAZING!

I ordered a a Thai Ice Tea which was delicious, so often in other places there is way too much sugar used, this tea was perfect, sweet, smooth and refreshing.

We followed the appetizers with three entrees. Pork Panang, Bangkok Fried Rice and the Pak See Ew Noodles, I may have the name wrong. Every dish was absolutely out of this world!!!!! Portions were plentiful and I'm looking forward to eating my leftovers later.

If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would!!!!! I am SO GLAD we moved here!!! This will not be my last...

Went out for my boyfriend's birthday meal and got take out 7/13. At least we ate outside nearby because I found the tip of a latex glove in my Dunken Noodles. I went back in and they made me a new one but wouldn't refund my meal because "they didn't know how to work the credit card machine for refunds and the owners are weird like that" - is what I was told by the girl working the register. I spent $50 for a nice meal on a special occasion and received poor service and a contaminant in my food. Some people have latex allergies not to mention I'm left to wonder if someone cut themselves and bled into the dish I consumed before finding a circular piece of a glove in there. That is a pretty weird practice, she was right about that. Hope the $13 for my meal to them was worth me sharing this horrendous experience. McDonald's or a high class steakhouse would've refunded a meal if they served a glove to someone, except the management at Rutherford Thai, they are above this concept of customer service, which has always been lacking but the food was...
