I am a huge fan of the JimBoy's franchise. I love the tacos when I need a grease fix, add a packet of hot sauce and enjoy.
Yesterday I decided to go get some tacos from this one, and ended up trying the classic taco salad as was advertised for $5.49 on a poster. When she rang it up it came to almost $8, being that she spoke very broken english, I decided not to even try to debate the charge. Then I handed her my card and she swiped it through the "debit card machine" which was hidden away from view and it wasnt until she pushed it my way and turned it around that I saw the small hand written sign that said "$.79 fee". then it asked for what I had assumed was the cash back option, but there wasnt a "no cash back" button. she said "you need $10 to pay for you food", so I guess instead of running it as a debit card, they are running it as a fee based ATM machine instead. Today I checked my account and realized my bank does see it as an ATM transaction, but because it is not an ATM from my bank, they also charge a fee. So this $5.49 taco salad has now cost me almost $11, and i didnt even get a drink.
Since I have never gotten a taco salad here before, I was surprised to see the lady in the back putting the deep fried flour tortilla shell, filled with meat and cheese, in the microwave (what even more odd is she pulled, what looked like a large tub of shredded cheese out of the microwave). This concerns me because it was in a styrofoam container, while I realize I am eating at a fast food restaurant, I would like to try and minimize toxins from plastic as much as possible...
On the plus side, the taco salad ended up being good, for fast food. It had a lot of lettuce, the shell was ok, lots of toppings like guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes.
Had i been warned of the "ATM" procedure and the $.79 fee for using it, I probably would have opted for somewhere else. When I want my jimboy's fix next time, I will try the one on arena blvd instead, see if they operate differently, and i might have to stick with my tacos from now on, if the microwave thing is a standard...
Read moreWe placed a large online order with Jimboy’s Taco for a business lunch. We received both the confirmation and the receipt, so we expected everything to be ready. To our surprise, when we called the restaurant, we were told the order had not been processed at all.
We called twice, explained that we had the confirmation and receipt, but the staff refused to acknowledge it. The lady on the phone was aggressive and insisted that we physically come to the restaurant with the receipt. Our office admin went in person, only to be told again that they would not honor it. When she asked to speak to the manager, the response was simply that he was “too busy.”
This entire experience was extremely frustrating. We had to scramble for an alternative at the last minute, which disrupted our business lunch. We will not be ordering from Jimboy’s Taco again, and I strongly advise anyone considering them to...
Read moreWhen we walked in on Sunday the 28th , we were greeted right away. The establishment was clean, even all the tables. The ladies here are very pleasant and helpful and get along and work very well together. It's been a while since we had Jimboys they no longer have jalapeño poppers, 😆. We ordered the 6-pack ground beef tacos and a bean and cheese burrito both extra crispy... 😋. I can say this was the best experience. The tacos and the bean and cheese burrito were made crispy, hot, and delicious, just like we like it. The burrito was large enough to share. The beans were not runny they were perfect ! Everything was tasty and we will be visiting again very soon. The daily specials are always available. Thank you for delivering such great customer service and a memorable experience! Man, I wish I had taken pictures you would want to go after reading this review....
