Okay, of you pulled this up I hope it's because you are trying to decide if you should go here. Let's start with the obvious, this is a nondescript strip center convenience store. There isn't much to indicate this is a restaurant. Service at the counter is prompt and friendly. This is to-go only. There are no seating options whatsoever. The menu is pretty simple with the Chinese classics we've come to expect. There are no combo meals or plates. Each item comes served as plate to share family style. Keep an eye out, there are no prices on the menus. An order of rice, an order of eggrolls, an order of broccoli beef and an order of sesame chicken were $75!!! Let's cut to the chase. How was the food? The rice was a big plate of dark brown rice, no peas and carrots, which is how I prefer it, there was a little onion, but the flavor was all there and it was excellent! The eggrolls are extraordinary. The order is 4 and they are massive, batter dipped and fried until golden and crispy and they are easily some of the beat eggrolls I've ever had. The beef and broccoli was exactly what it should be. The beef was tender, the broccoli was not overcooked, the sauce was flavorful. It was very good. The sesame chicken was fried perfectly crisp and stood up to the flavorful sauce. It's wasn't overly spicy. It was some of the best sesame chicken I've ever had. So while the atmosphere wasn't great and the prices were steep, the flavor and the quality was absolutely present in every dish I got here. This is definitely one of those hidden spots that only neighborhood people know about, but definitely worth...
Read moreIf your not paying attention this is just your average liquor store / mini market. Except for automated greeting your given upon entering the store. If you want to order food you just tell the cashier what you would like and he hollers something in (please don't hold this against me) Chinese or Cantonese or similar sounding dialect very loudly and somewhere off in the distance you hear a faint female voice give what is obviously a verbal receipt of the order. Then you pay the cashier for your food and he says it will be ready in 10 to15 mins. Now if you were a regular here. You would be next door calling in your order because your massage will be done in 10 mins and you want to pick up dinner in your way out.
About 10 mins passes as the kind gentleman asks if you would like soy sauce and utensils and loads your bag with containers of food pouring steam from the containers now spewing from the bag as he hands it to you and you are on your way out . It feels almost like a back room meeting with a bookie to place some under the table bets on some horses at the track . But your payout is food and is guaranteed. And not only but it is fantastic. Sweet and sour pork is some of the best I've had. My first time visiting this unusual take out only kitchen. But I'll be back. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu ! Another diamond in the rough for sure!! Great food, great price. Highly recommend , but order ahead of time....
